This was probably my favorite all round Serie A season of all time.

You had so many legends at their very best. This was THE season. This was when Ronaldo exploded into a monster, Batistuta was at his peak, an experienced Baggio was scoring goals like it was nothing, Del Piero became a beast and Bierhoff really showed what he was made of. I'd give anything to go back to this specific season and watch it all over again.

Paul McGrath marking Roberto Baggio out of the game, during Ireland's 1-0 win over Italy in 1994 World Cup.

I was too young to remember it, but i've heard the stories.

    Arsenal with Bergkamp
    Valencia with Canizares&Mendieta
    Real with Raul
    Barca with Kluivert

Great times indeed. Bayern with Elber, Scholl, Effenberg also deserves to be mentioned.

Most neutrals do, but that doesn't diminish the fact that he was terrific midfielder and the one who dominated Real Madrid's midfielders during their numerous encounters in the CL.

Bayern from that era was cool, I really liked German national team back then too.

Effenberg was a prick. Funny, and if he was at Juventus I'd have loved him, but still a prick.

Sort of like Lichtsteiner on steroids in that regard.

How good was Roberto Mancini as a player?
Mancini was pretty talented, some have called him a genius, personally I just thought he was a very good player. He unfortunately for him lived in the shadow of Baggio when he was at his peak, only played something like 35 games for Italy.

I would rank him just ahead of Zola in terms of Italian no.10s

    Look at the capoconniere list:

    Bierhoff
    Ronaldo
    Del Piero
    Baggio
    Batistuta
    Montella
    Inzaghi

That is an insane list of players, no league will ever be able to touch how good Serie A was that season.

Yes, it was a monster. The best Strikers of that time all in the same league. I really recommend anyone who wasn't old enough or missed that season to watch the video i posted.

Now let's do a little comparison here. Today this is what we have:

    Immobile
    Tevez
    Toni
    Rossi
    Gomez
    Llorente
    Destro
    Higuain
    Balotelli

God, it almost makes me puke. Actually, cry. How shit has Serie A become.

Looking through this thread makes me sad that I didn't really have an interest in football at a younger age. But I love reading about and watching classic players, games and highlights. The sport was so much better back then.

I'd pick Redondo. IMO he was one of, if not the best South American defensive mid of his time.
