BLUES CLINCH KAPO DEAL

KapoBlues have today pulled of a coup with the signing of 27-year-old French international Olivier Kapo from Juventus in a deal worth £3 million.

The talented attacking midfielder attracted the interest of several other clubs, including Everton and Fulham, after Juve signalled their willingness to allow the player to leave.

Spanish clubs Real Mallorca and Real Betis have also enquired about Kapo after he spent last season on loan in La Liga with Levante, helping them in their successful fight to avoid relegtaion.

But Blues have moved quickly to acquire the Abidjan-born player's services on a three-year contract, with a two-year option.

KapoKapo was born in the Ivory Coast but moved with his family to Paris as a child and subsequently opted to represent his adpoted nation, helping France qualify for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, scoring twice in the 4-3 victory in Israel.

He went on to make his senior international debut in November 2002 and played in the following year's FIFA Confederations Cup.

Kapo has scored three goals in nine appearances for his country.

On the domestic front, Kapo joined Auxerre on schoolboy terms at the age of 13 and came through the club's highly-respected Academy system to make his first team bow at the age of 18 in March 1999.

KapoThe tall left-footer went on to become a regular in the French top flight and also played in the Champions League, in which he scored a wonder goal against Arsenal in October 2002 that silenced the Highbury crowd.

He poked the ball through Patrick Vieira's legs and then fired a fierce curling shot past David Seaman.

Kapo helped Auxerre lift the French Cup in May 2003 before leaving the club 12 months later for Juventus, having scored 19 goals in 120 French League games.

KapoUnfortunately he didn't get much of a look-in at the Stadio delle Alpi and started just two league games during 2004/05.

The following campaign he went out on loan to French side Monaco where he enjoyed more success scoring five goals in 25 league matches.

Then came the season-long stint at Levante last term which brought another five-goal haul from 30 appearances.

KapoKapo becomes Steve Bruce's fourth summer signing, following the additions of Fabrice Muamba, Stuart Parnaby and Garry O'Connor, as the Blues boss builds his squad in readiness for the club's second assault on the Premier League.

and with chimi apparently at udinese, ranieri is still adament on finding a suitable num 2, is trini good enough?
Chimi is official at Udine. Posted that news this morning.

Trini was voted as best keeper in the Primavera championship but I believe Ranieri will use Belardi. Fontana is still available + I hear a rumor about Leverkusen's keeper Butt. :D
