Yeah I guess. Ambro has had a far better season than Gatusso in terms of consistency - probably even Pirlo too. I also think he has better technical ability than Rhino. The lob he pulled of for Bonera against us (after which Bonera squared to Inzaghi for their 2nd goal) is something Gatusso definately cannot pull off. If you also saw Milan's goals from yesterday, he worked well to create one of the goals (think it was the 1st or 2nd)

I do think C Zanetti is just as good though

And Chiellini would be more deserving of partnering Canna at CB, but that won't happen either.

I'm not going to complain too much because a huge amount of International Football is about experience.

no way...De Rossi is the current # 10....it can never be an all Milan MF...in fact I would prefer Perrotta ahead of Ambrosini and Gattuso, but he is not a defensive MF

The European Championship operation begins on Tuesday, the 20th, when head coach Roberto Donadoni releases the names of players called and holds a press conference. On Thursday, the 29th, the National team will train at the “Artemio Franchi” stadium in Florence where the following day, Friday, the 20th, they wil play their last friendly match against Belgium (8:50 pm). As training field, Italy has chosen the Bundesstadion Südstadt of Maria Enzersdorf (where Admira Waker plays), and will debut on Monday, June 9th, against The Netherlands (Stade de Suisse in Bern, at 8:45 pm); afterwards, Italy plays against Romania on Friday, June 13th (Letzigrund stadium in Zurich at 6:00 pm), and the last match of the first round will be played against France on Tuesday, June 17th (Letzigrund stadium in Zurich at 8:45 pm).

Donadoni doesn't agree. He loves playing that all Milan midfield for some reason which really isn't working.

De Rossi is the number 10?

Wow, perhaps I can see why there is so much hate for Donadoni now.

Guys guys guys... you're forgetting about Amauri and Altidore.

Del Piero, Cassano, Toni, Amauri, Altidore.

Golden!

The same could have been said about Camoranesi. It's hypocritical.
Ok I have said i am against Camoranesi playing for so long.... Ok this useless to argue about if u don't even listen to me.

On another note I am worried that Borriello will be in euro squad. He has not scored in the past 5 games and has not performed well. He could be the next Italian striker to have one good season.

Italy No 10 usually doesn;t perform well during big tournament except for Baggio in 94 world cup..
U just look at DP during 98 wc, euro 2000..
Totti during world cup 2002(IMO Totti only has one good big tournament, euro2000 when he wore no.20) and he messed up w Euro04 and did nothing spectacular during 06 wc(I expect him to do a lot more since he's d playmaker)
I reckon Pirlo should take no.10 jersey but then it's just a number..

Pirlo number 10? maybe when he was at Inter but it's not the number for his style and position. How about giving it to Rosina or Giovinco whichever gets called up first. At least one of them should be called up for the euros (although the Don won't do it)
The natural creative players who will hopefully become big azzurri stars soon.

Any news yet? Calciomercato reports the following today:

Oggi Donadoni annuncia la lista dei 26 pre-convocati per il ritiro in vista degli Europei 2008. Il ct dell'Italia è tentato di inserire in extremis ed a sorpresa il nome di Antonio Cassano. L'altra novità dovrebbe essere un altro giocatore della Sampdoria, Maggio. Per il resto, Abbiati si chiama fuori e il terzo portiere sarà De Sanctis. In difesa Oddo rischia di stare a casa, sfavorito rispetto a Bonera e Tonetto.

I PROBABILI 26
Portieri: Amelia, Buffon, De Sanctis
Difensori: Barzagli, Bonera, F. Cannavaro, Chiellini, Grosso, Materazzi, Panucci, Tonetto, Zambrotta
Centrocampisti: Ambrosini, Aquilani, Camoranesi, De Rossi, Gattuso, Maggio, Perrotta, Pirlo
Attaccanti: Borriello, Cassano, Del Piero, Di Natale, Quagliarella, Toni.

(La Stampa)

C'è Montolivo (e non Maggio, ndr). Difficile per Toldo e Inzaghi. Giovedì 29 maggio la lista definitiva con solo uno tra il centrocampista della Fiorentina e Cassano in grande rimonta.

He used to be a defensive midfielder, but Spalletti discovered that Perrotta has great stamina, so Perrotta plays in an advanced role nowadays as seen in WC and Roma.

As I said, Donadoni will be taking Cassano with him. I like that though, especially because all media are now reporting that Del Piero is certain to go to the Euros as well.
