On club form,he should be guaranteed a callup. But we all know that club and country form are two seperate things. But Donadoni isnt really bursting with options upfront. He apparently doesnt want to call Del Piero up,Cassano's chances look slim, and that leaves him with who?Toni,Iaquinta,Di Natale,Palladino?

Iaquinta will definatley make it to the Euros.I dont see Boriello or Quawhateverthefuckhisnameis being chosen over him.

Donadoni renewal nixed

Reports suggest Roberto Donadoni will only have his contract renewed if Italy reach at least the semi-finals.

This story had already emerged a couple of weeks ago, but after negotiations with the Coach it seems the Federation is sticking to its guns.

Newspapers in the peninsula are claiming that the FIGC rejected out of hand Donadoni’s demands for a contract renewal without preconditions.

Instead, the Azzurri boss will be asked to accept the new deal within the next month or wait until the end of Euro 2008 to see if he reaches the final four.

Any new contract would take him through to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Donadoni met with FIGC President Giancarlo Abete on Thursday in the Rome headquarters and reportedly failed to find a breakthrough.

Italy have a very tough group in Euro 2008, facing off against France, Holland and Romania, but failure to progress to at least the semi-finals will see Donadoni sacked.

Italy speaks: Alex not Antonio

The Italian public would rather see Alessandro Del Piero than Antonio Cassano at Euro 2008, according to a survey in the peninsula.

Competition for striking spots in Roberto Donadoni’s squad for Austria and Switzerland is intense.

Despite their undoubted quality, Del Piero and Cassano have been left to ponder exclusion after missing out on selection to play against Portugal in a friendly at the start of the month.

Both men impressed last weekend as Del Piero’s free-kick vanquished Roma and Cassano was the Man of the Match in Sampdoria’s Derby della Lanterna triumph over Genoa.

However, a poll taken by Sky Sport Italia revealed that 62 per cent of Italians would rather see Del Piero taken to Euro 2008 than Cassano.

The battle for places in the final squad continues with all the attacking candidates on impressive form.

Luca Toni and Antonio Di Natale stated their cases last weekend with the former netting a hat-trick for Bayern Munich and the latter bagging a match-winning brace in Udinese’s triumph over Reggina.

iauquinta isnt horrible for the azzurri, i beleive he deserves a call up. especially if he continues this way.
When was he good? He was anonymous on his birthday against the Faroes, He was woeful against Ukraine the first game and anonymous the second and he was such a waste at the world cup.
