For the first time since the WC final, Italy played like WORLD CHAMPIONS !!

Overall, I thought we played a good, attacking, controlling game...the only critique I have is that the finishing needs to improve (we could've/should've had 4 or 5 goals)

I like the way Di Natale attacked, but his finishing left a lot to be desired.

After a few near misses early on, Luca Toni proved what an excellent finisher he is with 2 nice headed goals !!

Perrotta was decent, showed a lot of speed and hunger out there

De Rossi had some Totti-like moves out there, and overall played pretty well (had a few stray passes, and a shot that came nowhere near the net from 45 yards out)

Gattuso was almost invisible the first half....which I guess is actually a good thing, because Scotlands attack didnt dare go thru him....the second half he was all over the damn place, and picked up a well earned assist !!

Camo, I thought, had an excellent game !! He had some nice passes, showed good movement, and was involved with most of the offensive play....now if he could only learn the words to the Italian National anthem !! :D

Oddo was solid in the defense, and coming forward....as was Zamby. Oddo had a few nice free-kicks as well

Canna was as good tonight as he was in last summers finals, he is still the rock of the defense

Materazzi had a decent game as well, with no mistakes

Buffon had one super save on a free kick, and made everything else look easy !!

DP came in late, had a few nice touches, but had one or 2 times where he tried to do too much

Pirlo also came in late, and had one shot streak just over the bar

We need to show this focus and determination for the rest of the qualifying round, and we should be ok

when your missing 3 or 4 of your best players you won't win a trophy either. We should of won this game 3 or 4 - 0. di natale is usually money when he gets those kinds of chances, and he missed both times. We gave the scots absolutly nothing. I could of been in net for this game.

i know where its from, i got like 4 different versions of the song lol, but i just never understood the significance of it, if it has any meaning or is it just random chant
Kinda..Totti started it when Roma had the record for the most straight wins in Serie A, and I guess the Italian fans just started singing it too. So yeah, it's just a random chant.

what should Del Piero do to get a starting line up from donald the duck??scored a curling freekick? dribbled pass 6 players then lob the keeper? or work tiredlessly in the midfield and start tackling? or defend deep at the back? or even put on the gloves and start pull off superb saves??
we all know donald d duck won;t give dp a chance, no matter how well he plays..
i am starting to look fwd france vs italy match, without dp, we will see how this italia squad will flair with average player like di natale??
even dp is on the starting line up, italy has a fat chance to win euro2008..
sorry guys

scotland made it easy for italy, who never got out of 3rd gear teh whole game. this is not teh game to guage either teams credentials, italy always start a campaign off slow tehn come good.
onloy craig gordon shone for teh scots, kenny miller worked hard but had no support, the midfield pairing of ferguson and hartley is pish and unless tehy have a proper DM behind tehm it will never work

:agree: I agree with you Bozi. From what I saw of the game, Ferguson was rubbish - the number of times I was screaming at the TV telling him how to do his job...... Clearly he is on of these players who think they should be in the team & only have to turn up - he doesn't believe in actually doing a lot of work. Give me Boum over him any day! Craig had to cope with Italy's attacks with only a bunch of headless chickens to help him. The number of times they were either too slow to pick up on Toni (if at all) drove me daft. If Donadoni had fielded ADP instead of Di Natale the score would have been much higher.

it was good to see our defense so rock solid scotland had no chance of scoring that entire game.

gordon had a great game, it surprises me no italian teams have been after him after the past 3matches against the Azzurri.

Kenny miller was never going to score, despite working hard he is so short on confidence and doesnt look likely to a get a goal. He needs sum1 next2him!

Hartley has not been the same player this season as he was last yr, IMO he shouldnt have started i was v.dissapointed with him against georgia (he hasnt even been playing for celtic).

@ AngelaL: Ferguson had a good game, always composed and v.rarely losing possession. He is not a player who stands out but does a good job, although he needs a strong tough tackling player next to him. He was voted the scottish Man of the match on the tv here (altho i think brown and gordon had better games than him)

good to see you around man dont see you nearly often enough. i personally have started the craig gordon to juve (only if Gigi leaves) campaign, dont wanna see him in the EPL but looks he is headed taht way.

agred on ferguson , he is mince but ahd a good agme, however him and hartley cant play together unless they have a tough guy between them
