Juve ‘Hand’ Nonda To Roma For Cassano
6/10/2005 11:37:00 AM
The Bianconeri did not sign the former Monaco striker so that the Giallorossi could take him.
Two weeks ago Juventus announced that Shabani Nonda failed his medical tests and therefore did not sign the Congo striker. However, latest news are suggesting that the Bianconeri’s real reason for not signing Nonda was another one.

It has been made known that also Roma are after the former Monaco striker and for this reason Juventus decided to let go the player so to be able to arrive to Antonio Cassano, the real target of this summer for the Old Lady.

Nonda is expected to undertake Roma’s medical tests and if everything goes well he could sign within this week.

This news was also confirmed by famous Italian agent Pasqualin who believes that Nonda’s failure to arrive to Juventus means that Cassano will reunite with Capello this summer.

“My sources told me that the player from Bari will go to Juventus,” declared Pasqualin during a radio program.

I hope this is true.

man, we still hv to offload at least one striker for that reason (cassano's arrival)... hope it will be trez..
cassano is a different player to trez.
gettin rid of trez n gettin cassano will leave us without a box player and a relatively tall finisher.
zlatan isnt that kind of player

Nonda is a fantastic player, or at least he was. I would love to see him get back on his feet although Roma is hardly my favored venue but so be it. I just hope he gets back to his best. :cap:

It would be tragic to see him in Scotland. :fero::down:

Nonda To Roma? Question Of Hours
6/10/2005 6:41:00 PM
Former Monaco striker Shabani Nonda is currently in Rome where he has already undergone his medical for the Giallorossi, according to 'Il Romanista.it'.
He is now involved in his final contract talks, and is set to be officially announced as a Roma player later today.

Nonda was supposed to join Juventus last week, but the deal was scrapped after he apparently failed his medical.

Now his 'failed medical' looks more to have been a cover as Roma and Juve were working out the final terms of an incredible deal bringing the Congolese forward to Rome and Antonio Cassano to Turin.:D:D:D

Zlatan, Trez, Cassano it would be a dream lineup.
Two totally unpredictable genius and a killer;

Mutu, Cassano, Trez: a half killer-half wicked, a genius and a killer;
Mutu, Trez, Zlatan: Creative killer, Killer and a Genius;
Mutu, Cassano, Zlatan: Three Genius, two of them quite a killer

i cant see an option with DP in the starting lienup

Too good to be true

We don't need Cassano anyway IMO

Let's take Chivu instead Cassano. These Cassano rumours seem to be the same as Vieri's specualtions last summer. As we remember Cannavaro arrived in Turin instead of Vieri. So I wouldn't be surprised that in the end it would be "Nonda To Roma For Chivu"

Nonda flies in for Roma medical Friday 10 June, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Monaco star Shabani Nonda is in the Capital for a medical and should finalise his move to Roma over the next few hours, but they lose the Philippe Mexes appeal.

The French striker had long been linked with Juventus, but he flew in to Rome this morning and is undergoing standard fitness tests before the final contract details are ironed out.

It would be quite a coup for the Giallorossi, especially as the hitman is out of contract and is therefore a free agent.

It will be Roma’s third free signing over the last few days, as Siena’s Rodrigo Taddei and Bayern Munich defender Samuel Kuffour both penned deals with the club.

That financial boost is a precious one for the Capital club, as FIFA have ruled that they must pay £5.3m to Auxerre as part of the disputed Philippe Mexes move.

The French defender maintained he was out of contract, but the authorities thought otherwise and he has already sat out a seven-week ban because of it. Roma will appeal to the TAS tribunal of arbitration in sport.

Meanwhile, there are rumours that there is a precise strategy by Juventus to ‘step aside’ in the race for players so that they can secure Antonio Cassano’s signature.

The ex-Bari starlet’s contract is set to expire next summer and renegotiations are not going well as it’s claimed he demands a massive pay rise to stay in Rome.

As both Vincenzo Montella and Francesco Totti have recently penned new deals, it’s believed that Nonda’s arrival will push Cassano towards Turin, where he’ll reunite with Coach Fabio Capello.

Juve face competition from Inter and Real Madrid for the fiery Italian international, but the ‘handing over’ of Taddei, Nonda and Kuffour suggests director general Luciano Moggi has given them the advantage
