Was just a general thought. I don't rate him highly but for some reason he manages to find the net and imo he will continue to do so with Atletico.

I just like how they buy each summer, it's always some talent or some player they manage to revive. Vrsaljko and Gaintan were great signings. Just like Savic was. Gameiro will play well with Griez and others next to him.

Not many people mention them as a threat but over the past couple of years they were a tough nut to crack and they pull 101% out of the team which is quite impressive. They were dominating in both Spain and Europe. I wouldn't like many of their transfers simply because I think we should chase better targets. Despite of our (much) higher income I think they are doing an impressive job.
their ability to bring in talent like costa koke, niguez gimenez hernandez with smart investments such as godin, luis, griezmann, falcao, aguero etc... has been impressive. probably even better than us.

Juve and atletico have been the best in the transfer market in the past 4-5 years. atletico seemed the best at bringing youth talent from their academies.

Odd to say the least, Chelsea is being very quiet
Yeah especially because they need many, many players to revive that squad. I expect at least 2 more big signings within the next two weeks.

Costa wasn't from Atletico's academy IIRC. Didn't they buy him from Rayo Vallecano, or was he just loaned there?

Also I think Chelsea's team is quite good, they just massively underachieved last season. This happens every season by the way, where the judgment on a squad's strength is made based on their recent results. Last summer I was arguing in the EPL thread that City had a stronger squad than Chelsea's but just underachieved with Pellegrini while Mourinho did a better job with Chelsea's, a lot of people disagreed. This summer the tables have turned and all of a sudden Chelsea don't have a strong squad; they do of course; only City's in England is marginally stronger IMO.

Players like Ivanovic, Matic, Cesc, Diego Costa and Hazard are very good players, they were just in poor form last season. Especially Hazard and Cesc, they would get into almost any team in the world. Diego Costa is a very good striker too, unless he does a Torres and forgets how to play football, I fully expect him to be one of the top scorers in the league next season. I would say the only position they definitely need to strengthen is the CB position; Terry has lost it, and Zouma is still out injured.

Are you still an arsenal fan? If so why?

Serious question :D

Costa knows how to score but he's a zero team player and imo those kind of players go into rubbish can nowadays. I think he's overrated quite a bit and it's quite natural how Chelsea wants to replace him (if rumors are true). Cesc is overrated while Ivanovic is pretty much finished as a player, they shouldn't count on him.

More than anyone over here realizes. I've developed thick skin due to our years of failure, so maybe it doesn't always look like it, but I watch every minute of every game and get worked up so much during games haha.

Why? Because you support your team through thick and thin. Do you prefer plastic fans and gloryhunters? :D

I strongly disagree about Cesc. He has proven over the years that he's one of the best midfielders in the world, I think you're falling into the trap of recency bias. The season before last, he was the best midfielder in the EPL by a margin, he was a top player for us during the times when we had an absolutely shitty team. The only period where he wasn't as good was when he was at Barca, when he had to play out of position due to the fact he was competing with an in prime Xavi and Iniesta.

I disagree about Costa too, but to be honest, he hasn't proven it over a long time like Cesc has, so we'll just have to wait and see.

I consider Hazard to be one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe, and he'll surely get back to his usual self IMO.

I prefer individuals, those who rise above groups or semblance of belonging to one, if i were you id stop supporting arsenal, it has lost its identity and all of its charm, it's a rich team who is happy just staying rich, takes no gambles and is happy getting cuckolded by its rivals in the transfer market. Being associated with arsenal as a male is kind of embarrassing :p i say go for a team thats more who you are, even if it's not that successful.

That is definitely true unfortunately. But its individuals that have caused this, mainly Kroenke, Gazidis and Wenger. The club outlives those individuals, there will come a time when they go, and the club will still be around. Its definitely disgraceful how they treat the fans though.
