I'm not sure thats true, if it is, I strongly doubt anyone would prefer Tevez over Jovetic. Tevez while still a really good player in his own righ, is past his best, while Jovetic still has some developing to do, and has not yet reached his peak.
I'm not saying we chose Tevez over him per se,he was always our top target and IIRC he gave an interview to GDS months ago and he said "Juve want me over tevez,Ibra and Higuain".But it turned out that Fiorentina were unwilling to deal with us ,we were getting impatient and we chose tevez in the end.So that interview in which he openly decalred he wanted to improve under Conte amounted to nothing in the end.

Yeah that was a sensationalist headline from goal.com actually but in the actual quotes it seems like he was kinda taking a dig at Juve indirectly when he says "City wanted me more than anyone else".
But what would you expect him to say? He'll play there for couple of seasons. He can't say something like Juve wanted me the most and I wanted them but you're not the bad choice either.

I think its very plausible that he snubbed both Arsenal and Juventus. Tough to compete with City on the transfer marlet.
Very unlikely. Choosing City over Juventus. Come on! Viola were the one making problems all along. He expressed his will to come here in an interview few weeks ago. And there is always Vucinic his idol.

Ya, I remember when Fiorentina sold you Melo, they played hardball all summer long and then ended up selling him for an over inflated price. I bet Fiorentina would have wanted more than the 30M they sold him for, had they been selling to you guys.

Ofcourse he has to say something positive like "I'm very happy with my choice ,they are ambitious etc" but he says City wanted him more than anyone else when it was clear that we had been very much in him for 2 seasons running. He even openly declared he wanted to move to Juve but we settled for Tevez in the end and we always knew from then on teh move wasnt going to materialize.

Actually these days, vice versa is what is unlikely. It's sad, but its the reality.

In some cases yes but not in this one though. It will be always hard for us to buy player from Fiorentina given into consideration all the previous bad blood between us.

In the end we paid his release clause though. They couldnt do much

Nope, Fiorentina clearly said IF Juventus want Jovetic they need to pay 30 million euros :) not more not less.

Viola president own words. We diden't want to pay it, and thats all. If we would have, then he would have been here in Juventus.

Okey you talked about Melo :D?

Stevan Jovetic has revealed he snubbed the likes of Arsenal and Juventus because Manchester City showed a greater desire to sign him.

The Montenegro forward completed his protracted €27 million move on Friday to become City’s fourth major signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Fernandinho, Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo.

Arsenal had been in advanced talks with the player earlier in the summer, while Italian champions Juventus had also registered an interest before settling on the man Jovetic will replace at the Eithad Stadium, Carlos Tevez.

"Manchester City has wanted me for a long time, more than everyone else," Jovetic told the club’s official website. "They have a big project here and are always fighting for the Champions League and Premier League. This is the reason I came here.

"I also spoke with Nastasic who tells me good things about Manchester and the players and everything here. He sent me messages every week telling me to come. Now I am here and look forward to playing with him every week."
Suck a dick, you floppy.

He said he chose City over Juventus because 'they wanted me more', which is basically City would pay the fee and we wouldn't. Marotta said a week ago that we were no longer after Jovetic as he would cost too much, Fiorentina are difficult to deal with, and we have Tevez. Conte confirmed this. A week later he signs for City. Hmmm...

Jovetic himself said:
“I don’t want to say the word 'goodbye,’ as I don’t like it. I’d love for Florence to always maintain a positive image of me. They gave me the nickname Jo-Jo and I feel the same affection – along with gratitude – for the fans.

“I have been at Fiorentina since 2008 for five very intense seasons. I feel that I gave my all to Fiorentina, so I have nothing more to give here.

“I am young and ambitious, so it’s normal I feel the need to test myself elsewhere. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting that. Florence and the Viola fans always wanted me to be honest, so here I am.

“I need new motivation and to make the step up to the next level at a top club. Fiorentina took me to participate in Europe, but now I want to win in Europe.”

Jovetic has been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and PSG, but above all Juventus.

“Juve have been after me for a year. They say they want me and that in their list I come above Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Carlos Tevez and Gonzalo Higuain. Who wouldn’t be flattered by that? I am and I don’t think it is a betrayal to admit that.

“I feel that Conte could help me to grow and we have reciprocal respect.”

“I am evaluating overseas moves too. The Premier League and the Liga are fantastic competitions, I do have some proposals, so we’ll see."
Seems pretty obvious to me if we stumped up the €30m he would have been here already.
