Ranieri In £12m Move For Lampard

The Daily Mirror are reporting that Frank Lampard is set to join Claudio Ranieri at the Stadio Delle Alpi.

The England international is on the verge of leaving Chelsea after falling out over a new contract, and it was thought that Barcelona would be his first priority.

However, the Catalans have since pulled out of the running, with technical chief Txiki Begiristain announcing yesterday that there was simply no place for Lampard in their team.

Juventus have responded to that by upping the ante, and the Daily Mirror suggests that Ranieri wants to sign the Chelsea midfielder for £12million.

Lampard and Ranieri know each other very well from the coach's spell at Stamford Bridge.

In fact, it was none other than Ranieri who signed Lampard from West Ham for £11m in 2001. The 55-year-old is hoping to lure the midfielder to play under him again.

The report also suggests that Claudio Ranieri has been armed with a massive 100 million euro transfer war chest, almost double the sum that was being rumoured in Italy.

There is no point having 100 million euros sitting in the bank and not spending it, unless you planning to earn the crazy amount of interests it brings.

Oh well, suppose that's what I do in Football Manager !

Might be smart to save some of that money. We don't need to buy players for 100 million euros. Let's build on the squad we have instead.

And Gila too..

So from Trezeguet we have went down to Huntelaar, then Gilardino and now it seems we settle for Iaquinta. Just great.

Keep Trez FFS and focus on the defense.

And I'm not a big fan of Gila, so I'm glad he won't come.

Gila going nowhere, claim Milan

Adriano Galliani insists Alberto Gilardino will stay with Milan for some time – just days after publicly putting him on the transfer market for £17m.

The striker last week revealed that he was considering his options at the San Siro after admitting that he was sick of being treated as a flop and wanted the outfit to show more faith in his abilities.

The European giants didn’t appreciate Gila’s interview, but Vice-President Galliani insists everything has been ironed out with the youngster.

“Just as Filippo Inzaghi, I believe Gila will be a Milan striker for the next 10 years,” said the official on Friday.

“I am sure that all the problems will be resolved. We met with the player, his father and his agent a few days ago and we were all very serene.

“Gila must understand that we have great faith in him, but no Milan player has ever demanded a spot in the starting line-up.

“He will be one of the four strikers in the squad next season and will have to compete with his teammates.”

The former Parma man is a reported target for Juventus, as a possible David Trezeguet replacement, but Galliani is confident that Gilardino has learned his lesson.

“He is young, strong and will be granted space like all of his teammates,” added the former Lega chief. “We would have never reached the Athens Final had we not had so many players here.

“It isn’t always a dishonour to start from the bench, but I am sure Alberto will understand all this. It is normal that he wants to play – he wouldn’t be a Milan player otherwise.”

They're gonna have to though. Towards the end of the summer, they're gonna have a new striker because all the CL cash has to be spent :p Gila will an extra expensive commodity. They'll have to sell him at that point, and we all know Gila wants to join Juve in that case.
