Pogba or Zaniolo?

For Pogba signing an expensive injury prone player to replace our younger, less expensive and slightly less injury prone player doesn't seem a great move.

Zaniolo is potentially a very good player but a huge risk. I don't see him being available for any price that makes it worthwhile given his injuries and low attacking numbers.

Pogba and it's not close. However if our recent dealings are anything to go by, we aren't likely to offer him the kind of wages that are required to sign him.

Due to our financial situation, we probably can only get one of them. It will likely be Zaniolo + a CM or Pogba + a winger.

Maybe I am on a high because of the January window, but if we save on Dybala, Berna, MDS, Perin wages that is already more than enough to cover them both. Just Berna and Dybala honestly.

I really don't think they're related at all. I think Zaniolo would have been a target no matter what because he's a young, talented Italian, a Juventino at that and we want to build that core again.

I think Dybala and Pogba (or another expensive mid of that type) were related because of both the finances and tactical choices. Pogba doesn't really have place in a team playing with two mids only and Dybala and Chiesa cannot play together in a team with 3 mids.

This is what Agresti posted on VS forum just after the January window ended. We had no idea about Dybala leaving for sure then.

I prefer a team being less reliant on one goalscorer, it makes you predictable and if they are off form/injured/well marked you have problems. Chiesa is an unknown next season and will likely need a year to get back. Morata is not reliable or consistent enough to bank on his goals.

We badly need a goal threat from midfield. We haven't had it since Khedira's peak with us and even then it was way less than what we had with Vidal.

Zaniolo's skillset as a footballer is quite limited imo. His main attribute is running fast with the football at his feet, but he doesn't really have vision to create for others and quite often his end product is lacking. He often likes to go on these solo runs that end in him trying to score a Hollywood goal from range. If we are super intent on being a team that relies heavily on counter-attacks as our go to attacking tactic then perhaps he would suit that. He is very very raw though. I don't see him as the kind of ready made player, who could instantly come in and take a lot of the attacking responsibility on his shoulders. More like a nice little project with some very obvious strengths that needs refinement in other areas.

You think so? Chiesa had 4 goals - 4 assists when injured this year. And 15 goals - 11 assists last year. Seems like he’s happy to create chances? Zaniolo, while not so balanced in previous years, has 4 goals - 8 assists this year…

sorry but the Dybala situation is another stain on Tici. He let it get down to a 2 year contract but then didn't sell or renew Dybala. Current management inherited Dybala at 12 months until expiration with basically no leverage to negotiate.

Basically no injuries besides the acl related ones. He missed 3 matches at separate points this season. No matches missed before the first or between acl tears iirc.
