We'll replace him in January, when we're in full panic mode.
We had the 2nd best defence last season and we've added Joao Mario, Kostic, Bremer, Rugani and Cabal while losing Alberto Costa that played like 2 or 3 games...

If we're panicking then it certainly won't be because of the massive loss of the second coming of Scirea called Savona. Maybe the Veiga loss, almost forgot him.

Is it really that difficult to understand?

We didn't need Dragusin. We didn't need De Winter. We didn't need Huijsen. And now we don't need Savona.

We apparently did need Veiga. We also did need Kelly. We definitely needed Djalo. Alberto Costa was necessary. And now we need Kostic again.

Sometimes I wonder what our business plan is. From the looks of it, I'd say it is selling young, useful homegrown prospects for as little money as possible & spending the little money we have on inferior, often completely random, players.
End result: weaker team & weaker finances.

I think he's potentially better than Kalulu and Gatti, so I see no reason to sell him. He could also play LCB. But more importantly, NU would be a shit choice for him, I dont think he'll challenge Newcastle's starting XI which has Trippier and Livramento as their starting fullbacks

Our plan is to get plusvalenza. It has been the same for years and we seem to have UEFA looking over us on this.

It is more profitable in the short term to sell a yound player for 10m and buy Kelly for 25m.

The problem is that this short term thinking puts us in an endless cycle of chasing plusvalenza as we amortise the more expensive player over their contract.

The sensible thing is to look at the young player as a low cost option (basically zero amortisation), low wages, knows the club, counts as home grown to supplement the squad as bench players. Then spend on starters. We would be worse off for one season but would benefit long term. We'd also likely be able to sell the player at a higher value in a few years.

The biggest issue if we are going to continue this short term plusvalenza chasing is that we lack the management to get a fair price for our players and reinvest in players who aren't good enough, are too expensive (high wages/amortisation) and we can't sell them when they inevitably flop.

I know. Whether or not UEFA is looking over our shoulder, I don't care. We have chosen this strategy. And I hoped the new people in charge would have stopped this bullshit from day one, but alas.

And it is indeed an endless cycle.
Even worse, the longer it goes on, the bigger the problem is going to be. "Saving" a few million today, only to spend three times that amount next year to fix earlier decisions/mistakes. You don't have to be a genius to realise your problems end up growing exponentially.

The only thing I don't agree on is that we would be worse off for one season. I mean, taking the quality of a lot of our recent signings into account.

No we didn't. You're taking the piss on almost all of them. The only one we did need from that list is Huijsen. All the rest was or is dispensable for sure but we're talking Savona here, not the rest of them. That could take us endlessly far.

Savona would be 6th or 7th choice right now, depending on whether you place him before or after the amazing Rugani nobody seemed to want to offload.

Making our next gen a cash cow is a mistake. We should have not signed Cabal, or Kelly, or a to of other players if we filled our squad with decent, good, or great players from our academy that have low wages, no transfer fee, and probably more drive.

That was one of Giuntoli's biggest sins.
Part of the Next Gen purpose is to generate revenue... But for pathetic sums like this? no that's just sheer incompetence.
