tell me about it. the only thing that I found nearly as horrific during that period was the nanking massacre. utterly gruesome and now mostly censored by the japanese, who still refuse to accept its occurence or apologise to the chinese.

If you meant that, yes the Japanese are massively cencoring it. People in China have also demonstrated recently as Japanese textbooks have played down the atrocities commited by Japanese.

This was unrelated to the long march. It was a part of Japan's imperialistic plan for power and dominance in the Far East during ww2.

The Japanese are indeed censoring it, although I dont know what good it does, because it is already an admission of guilt, and with the internet and free press you cant hide anything for long.

I just finished watching Hotel Rwanda for the second time, so I've been doing a lot of thinking about genocide.

IMO, China is in for some big-time back-firing with the way they've been headed lately. It's one thing for a nation to feel wronged for atrocities in the past that have not been acknowledged and repented. It's another for a government to crack down on general public demonstrations but look the other way on selective issues.

Any country that officially breeds that kind of bile will only find it coming back to haunt them. History has proven that time and time again.

Countries really need to stop copping the victimization-as-entitlement thing. It's not helping the world, or their own countries/people, at all in today's modern age.

Your right. But in fact its the Chinese government who officially distance themselves from the demonstrations and the people who wish for the Japanese to come clean- its a political stance not a moral stance for them. And its only certain Chinese civil groups that want Japan to cease behaving like nothing ever happened.

When you mention victimization-as-entitlement, the first thing that came to my mind was the reparations issue. But hey, is that a sensitive topic or what
