I don't think educating them would work, Martin.

It's a business, first and foremost, and we're talking about players livelihoods that are at stake. They must feel that they need to do what they have to do in order to maintain an edge.

It just casts a real pall on the sport itself, and the players who go out there and do it the right way.

A serious question: How did the so called "expert" get access to the players' blood? I have been under the impression that in the 1990's, all doping control samples in Italian football were by urine. Currently, the urine test is still used with blood samples being optional for the individual player. It seems to me that if a player suspected there could be a problem with his sample, then he would not opt to give a blood sample. It seems to me that a club that was secretly doping its players would tell the players to only give urine samples and not blood.

Does anybody here know if blood samples were ever taken for doping control in the 1990's? I am curious about that.

The fact is Serie A and B were not created until 1929. In 1913, Juve was never in relegation danger , as things did not work that way in 1913. That year the Northern qualifying round was divided into three groups of 6 clubs. The three last place finishers were Racing Club Libertas, Modena and Juve. The following season, there was no second division schedule drawn up, you liar. The fact is the Italian League's Northern qualifying round was expanded from 18 teams to 29 teams. Racing Libertas and Modena were also among the 29. Special "outside circumsatances" did not exist.

Why don't you call your thread "Incubo's lie of the week"?

To be honest, Incubo might be referring to the 50s incident (If i remember the right period) when Juve really came something like fourth from last and were going to be relegated. However the Lega that year decided to increase the number of teams in Serie A, so Juve remained in Serie A while only two teams were relegated.

The fishy thing is that an Agnelli was the president of the Lega at the time.

What I just said did happen, but I'm just saying it from memory so there might be some minor mistakes, but the basis of the story is there.

Too little too late as always Robert. In fact, if that is the case then many scudetto's should also be questioned?
If you know how to read Italian let me know and I will recommend some readings. This issue was dealt with in La Gazzetta years ago .. the bottom line..because there was not the actual names SERIE A and SERIE B renders it irrelevant. Juve finished dead last and the sanction was relegation.

It's a well known fact, though to be fair they had decided to increase the number of teams from before the season had started, therefore they didnt know juve would have ended in that position. But that makes the story less interesting so I`ll stick with the 'Agnelli saved Juve' story
