Can we really consider General Tso's chicken to be authentic Chinese ??

I mean, who was this General Tso anyways ?? Was he Mao's right hand man during the cultural revolution, or was he in charge of the boxer rebellion ? God only knows who came up with this.....

If we are going to talk about authentic Chinese food, then lets talk about dim sum ;)
I've noticed weird pockets of Chinese food in America. On the West Coast, you cannot find General Tso's chicken, chop suey, or egg foo yung to save your life. Yet all three are staples (like the arena) in Midwestern Chinese restaurants.

I do love dim sum though -- and Cantonese food in general. I remember getting my fill of overladen sauces and duck feet in Beijing and reaching my limit...and getting relief in Hong Kong right afterwards. :lick:

Speaking of Mao, I know there are some readers of The Economist out there. What did you all think of the cover of the latest issue?: Mao with a Santa hat. Pretty profound. Parallels between the commercialization of Christmas and the commercialization of Chinese Communism abound.

WHAT : New Year's Party
WHEN : Tonight, 8:00 pm
WHERE : Burke's Basement.

Dress : Balls Out Jeans

MERRY TESTICLES AND A HAPPY PENIS TOO!
That's Gloryhole Vanderbilt jeans to you, pal. I'm there! :spliff:

china was never communist, or the chinese people at least whose genome reads capitalism. On the subject of the economist their prescient article "musharraf and his box of tricks" impressively called bhutto's assassination.

N.B: wasnt chop suey invented in new york?

General Tso's?! I haven't had such goodness in weeks!

I'd take that heartattack in a handbasket over fillet mignon and broilled scallops anyday of the week.

Virgin-eating waffles, the lot of you.
...........WELL, GENTLEMAN, when the posts hit the forum, some guys type and some guys don't. Here's Andy, facing the fire, and there's Seven, hiding in big daddy's pocket. And what are you doin'? You goin' reward Seven, and destroy Andy. I don't know who posted at this place, William Howard Taft, William Jennings Bryan, William Tell, whoever, their spirit is DEAD.......if they ever had one, it's gone. You buildin' a rat-ship here, a vessel for internet going fuckfaces, and if you think you are preparing these posters for posting, you better think again. I say you are killing the very spirit the institution proclaims it instills! What a sham, what kind of a show are you mods putting on here today? The only class in this act, is posting next to me, and I'm here to tell you his keyboard is INTACT, it's non-negotiable. Know how I know? Someone here, and I'm not goin' say who (Seven), offered to post for him, only Andy here wasn't sellin'...... "Out of order, I'll show you outta order! You don't know what outta order is, Mr. Gobert! I'd show you but I'm too white; I'm too far away; I'm too fuckin' American. If I were the man I was five years ago I'd take a FLAME-THROWER to this place! Outta order. Who the hell you think you're talkin' to? I've been around, you know? There was a time I could post. And I have posted, boys like these, younger than these, their posts edited, their letters deleted. But there isn't nothin' like the sight of an amputated post; there is no prosthetic for that. You think you're merely sendin' this splendid foot-soldier back home to Pennsylvania with his tail between his legs, but I say you are executin' his POSTS!! And why?! Because he's not a true Juve fan! Juve fans, ya fuck up this boy, you're going to be Juve Bums, the lot of ya. And Bozi, Vinny, Nick, wherever you are out there, FUCK YOU too!

Merry fuckin' New Year, ya fuckers.

You need to take a class in "how the space b a r works."

You, sir, seem to be a fantastic gift-giver.

Best gift I received this Christmas was Jim Cramer's book Mad Money. That's some good reading for young investors.
Listen up, that's gay. Listen closer, READER, why not READ, asshole.....
