Having lived for a brief bit in Durham, and having know way too many people who went to Duke or Carolina, it's really unfortunate and wrong what happened to the Duke men's lacrosse team. But that said, the university is burying its head in the sand if it doesn't recognize the poisonous relationship with the locals they've helped create -- which helped create this monster and lent it enough credibility to give it legs.
While it's good to see innocent people exhonerated, and soon guilty people punished, the fact remains that Duke has a fucked up relationship with the surrounding town. And if they don't find ways to bridge the ill feelings they've harbored with the locals for being elitist, separatist pricks, more innocent people are going to get accused of shit they never did -- and people are going to believe them (or at least want to believe them). That much isn't going away.

Swag - ther is little incentive for the Dookie elitists to embrace the crackheaded lawless fuckhole that is Durham. What the university should do is take up the offer of Cary and move the whole university a few miles east.
