Oh come on. This trick has been used in literature for hundreds of years now. This is how it works. There's an episode in which they go to Italy and that's where Christopher's demise really starts. But more importantly, it's painfully clear they are as far from Italians as are the Chinese. The way Paulie does everything wrong, the way they're scared when they come in to touch with the Camorra..

The whole Mafia business revolves around has beens in The Sopranos and that's what's so great about it. There isn't a single episode in which they don't state it used to be better, it used to be about values you know. That little twist right there, saying organised crime is ethical some way or another is what makes it wonderful to watch.

If you say it's cliché, you didn't get it one bit.
:toast: Well said Seven, the lack of cliches is the reason I love the Sopranos. Basically, what you have is Tony trying the keep his shit together and stay out of jail, just like any other American father except sometimes he kills people.

I never got into it because it annoys me to see these Americanized Italians act so hardcore. The barely know a word in Italian yet they speak English like they just came off a boat from Sicily. It just annoys the fuck out of me to see these posers.

The scene from Godfather where Vito's son (Al Pacino) goes to Italy and he almost gets killed in that car explosion; that summed it up for me.

btw, Andy did you listen to the songs?
Quite the contrary...most Italians in New York (I note I was an exception) are 3rd generations Italian including the Sopranos cast and most infamous members of teh New York mob we see in the headlines...speak English like they came off the boat (quite a classy statement I might add) implies they have an italian accent...its art imitating art: its a pure through and through NY Italian guido accent and when you put a New York Italian accent next to a southern accent from Mississippi you have to wonder if the Mississippi native isn't closer to some Nordic tongue...or what about gangsters from South Central..words are barely recongizable.

The scene in the Godfather was Vito's son's wife getting killed...not him..he was trying to get her out..he wasn't almost killed. And if you're implying its because he was an AMerican its a bad example..the killing was ordered from the U.S. in the movie.

To each our own I guess...what annoys the f*ck out of me is someone coming to Italy telling me to take a cross off a classroom wall because it doesn't agree with their religious beliefs...pet peeves I guess

You don't understand because you don't live here. To put in perspective to you...imagine a bunch of Nick's running around acting hard. That's as simple as I can put it.
If the show was about a bunch of me's running around it would be boring as sh*t...let me guess..I'm Italian from New York so that automatically means I'm either a mob wanna be a guido or a poser.. the class and intellect in you just drips out..

let me try, you're arab angry and always on the offensive so homeland security probably has a file on you?? Enjoy Gitmo?

Is that the way your game is played ??

Nick, is it wrong to nickname Luca Toni "greasy pizza?"

    :D j/k

How have you been big guy?
Nothing wrong with that..in fact on July 3 2006, Ze Germans did just that refering to Italy as 'Mafia and Pizza' predicting their downfall....2 minutes from Extra time Klinsman was subjected to watching the 'Pizza's' give him a lesson in football on home turf...

    :pint:

I've been good...we are still CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE :pint: and INter is still shoving the scudetto up their arse

You better make your way to New York and catch a match at Giants Stadium this summer. Hopefully somebody decent will come tour the country again, perhaps even your club.

Thanks for the explanation, but it still doesn't justify having a thick Italian accent when you (not you) don't even speak the language.

And yes I knew it was his wife who was killed. I was trying to say that all that toughness back home didn't amount to the shit in Italy, but that's not relevant, I just said that.

Oh and I can't help your ignorance towards Islam :)

First of all, don't try to make New York Italians a race of their own. Secondly, that description is just the image you give me. I'm basing it solely off your attitude on the forums. You might be the exact opposite in actuality.

Lastly, I'm not Arab and I can't make up for your lack of world knowledge ;)

Yeah they sound pretty good, it's just that I don't have time to learn Portuguese right now. :D
Who cares about the lyrics, the beats and the words sound awesome :D

Though this isn't about the Sopranos anymore, please answer me this:

have you ever seen a complete Sopranos episode?

I think you haven't. Because The Sopranos is all about tackling clichés. Come on, Zé, The Sopranos are considered to be the best TV series ever by many people. That's not because they're romanticising the Mafia.

You do know that Tony sees a shrink?

To be honest I've seen about 4-5 full episodes of the show, and you're probably right that it's a good show. I guess I never got into it. But that's because my initial reaction to the show was that it's a lame show portraying the remnants of the majestic mafioso movement in the Unites States.

And yes, I know that he sees a shrink.

You don't have to like it. I can understand why people would not like it. All I'm saying is that you can't really claim it's full of clichés.

TBH I don't know much about the Mafia in the US. But I suppose it's pretty much dealt with, as Vin says, and it has never become such an integrated part of society as it has been in Italy.

Okay, so I found out Sophia Bush likes horsebackriding and dogs. I'm thinking of changing my avatar. I'm not that into bestiality.
Comon', Andries. I figured you as much as anyone would know the nuances of the ancient art of seduction. She likes horses, you pull a Zeus and go all Centaur on her ass. :disagree:

Rami, you are officially by far the coolest person on this forum. :D Imagine all these people sitting at home posting, dreaming of going to a game, let alone mingling with locals on the train. :D

These kids you ran into really crack me up :howler:
