What bugs me about Italian culture is the unability (I hope, it might also be just plain lack of will) to cut down on the corruption culture. When I gave the example of the Dutch corruption scandal, I wasn't trying to point out that Dutch culture is somehow superior in all of this. We've suffered some *major* corruption in the past. But with pan-European lobbying and all that of the recent years, corruption is now being fought and I see no reason why that couldn't happen in Italy. Only it's not. That disgusts me.

more over, what is the problem if a kid from Napoli wants to drive a Vespa which is the common mode of transportation with a stylish shirt in a nation renound for style and high profile designers and with sunglasses which is and has been the trend for many years not to mention is efficiency. Corruption might be fought against in Belgium and Holland but it quite clearly still is omnipresent. I don't think there's some sort of unability to cut down on corruption though. It must be lack of will. That and the fact that it has deeper roots in Italy than in any other country.
It reminds me of the vendetta culture there was in Italy in the Middle Ages. Somewhere along the 11th century Italian cities started fighting over some catholic issue and they were still fighting in the 15th century when the issue had been resolved for over three hundred years. Somewhere along the way you just don't realise it anymore.
