I just don't understand how anyone could give a penalty for that, let alone Merk. He's one of the best in the business supposedly, so he's either one overrated sack of shit or his ear was filled with the chatter of another FIFA executive.

But I suppose that FIFA would not want to have zero African teams qualifying for the second round, as that wouldn't look good before South Africa 2010. Might as well pull some strings before it's too late.
I quote the Dutch commentator: "Good for football that one African team qualified." - That should you give a clue on the penalty, Andy.

Wouldn't surprise me at all, Andries.

Just like the shit about the home nation every four years.

I mean how exactly are you expected to come back from a penalty call like that right before halftime? We could have muscled a comeback, however goals mean everything in this sport.

It's funny how everyone was mocking me in the beginning of this world cup, but it's becoming more and more clear by the minute that they cheat.

Kudos to Ghana anyway, as they still played a grand tournament so far. After seeing Italy today I'm confident they'll make it to the quarter finals, but I'm afraid they don't have what it takes to win the WC.

You guys and your fixing accusations :howler:
You just don't know what you're talking about. That call was blatantly fixed and it virtually destroyed the game. You have to be one dumb fuck to think this one is clean. They really can tell you everything.

He's not even near 70% if you ask me. I think Lippi only has one option in the 2nd round and that's playing Del Piero instead of Totti.

Well, we support Juventus, remember. If we can do it and get away with it, I'm sure others can as well. :shifty:

Refereeing decisions can make or break a game, and in this group the refereeing has broken at least two matches. Don't tell me these decisions did not completely fuck up the group.

Calm down soldier, I haven't seen the goals yet. But I think calling for bad refereeing is something different than to call the entire World Cup fixed.

Andy, people will mock these fixing accusations until their team gets screwed. That's simply the way it goes. I on the other hand have been monitoring this from the beginning of the tournament and I have already an incredible amount of questionable calls that accidently went the most profitable team's way.

Jack, you really think Italy's good enough? I think they lost a lot with De Rossi and it remains to be seen whether he'll get another chance this WC. Then there's Totti who's simply awful. Italy need to find a replacement for him, because he's just not cutting it.

It just happens to be the utmost game with the utmost blatant wrong call in favour of the most profitable team.
