This match shows a few things:
  1. The Czechs are not as good as I thought, they have taken a few hits since 2004. Seems age has finally caught up with Poborsky as well.
  2. Italy is good enough to win the whole thing. Lippi really knows what he's doing.
  3. Who needs Toni when there's Matrix? :D

Fuck this World Cup. I hope Germany and Brazil reach the final just so Kaiser Fixer Beckenbauer gets his way and shows the world that this World Cup is a joke. The refereeing has already ruined the whole show as far as I'm concerned, but that doesn't matter as long as FIFA rakes in the dough and Germany reaches the final.

Congrats to Italy, the only team that clearly deserved to go through in this group. Ghana and Merck and Beckenbauer and FIFA can go fuck off.

My boys played well, and even though they could have given a little more effort, I cannot say I'm ashamed by them. They played hard and Bruce Arena is really the one who made the mistakes this time around. We had absolutely no luck during this World Cup, and it does not help when the referees are seemingly against you during the whole tournament. I have never seen such abysmal refereeing and such a weak penalty given.

We hit the post three times during this World Cup. I guess the ball wasn't on our side either. Here we come for 2010 with Clint Dempsey leading the way.

Italy and Ghana to advance with USA being robbed.
I won't go on and complain about the refereeing as I'm sure you are all sick and tired of my conspiracy theories, but you have to ask yourself if this is normal. I mean, being able to tell in advance that a team is going to get robbed is just sad. I don't believe I just happened to have it right as Merk is an okay referee and no way he simply "misinterpreted" that.

Totti has to be dropped from the team. He has been awful for three games.

I just don't understand how anyone could give a penalty for that, let alone Merk. He's one of the best in the business supposedly, so he's either one overrated sack of shit or his ear was filled with the chatter of another FIFA executive.

But I suppose that FIFA would not want to have zero African teams qualifying for the second round, as that wouldn't look good before South Africa 2010. Might as well pull some strings before it's too late.
