Personally I do not see anything special in Ancelotti. The only thing he is talented at is creating balance in the squad. It is something not any manager can do, but other than his tactics are not something to be proud of.
Very wrong...first off not any manager can bring balance to a squad otherwise Roma would not be in the position they are in.
Don't forget WHAT Ancelotti inherited when he came to Milan: an unbalanced team with no real system created by Fatih Terim. Defenders were not a priority for him.
Ancelotti pushed for purchases such as Pancaro, Cafu and Crespo which people regarded as useless acquisitions.
Teams had all but given up on Pirlo until Ancelotti created a new role for him making him a world class player .... he created a mid-field which RUNS the Milan engine ...

    Under-rated...in my opinion.

You could at least explain how supporters in the stands avoid being fooled by the inevitable parallax error; no need to be patronising
I am learning from you Gray.

Picture watching the action from an elevated position where you can see the players and their positions like an aerial view of sorts...
on the other hand, the camera catches 60% of the players thus its harder to see someone offside AS CLEARLY

Yes replays show it but you can literally spot it out LIVE...

Anti-football? To a degree it is seen as anti-football but thats wide scale across Europe. It's not reserved for Italians like you make out.

I've posted in response to this about 10 times with you, you skip it every time and continually post it. I guess you see it as a poke at English teams or something. Quite silly really.
I'm actually not ANTI-ENGLISH as you suggest....quite the opposite really. However, I think Italian teams be it at the club level or national level or always pounced upon for playing 'catenaccio'.

Liverpool played catenaccio .. no question. After the three goals they let Milan run the game and do what they wanted....in retrospect, apart from the seven minutes of madness this was one of Milan's best games over-all in a long time....
Had Dida made one decent save we would have 7 titles.

Damnit I wish this match was going to be played in three weeks when I'm actually going to be in Chicago.

Coach Arena is using mostly an MLS team against England. Hopefully Joe Cole will get the start for Sven.

I never suggested you were anti- english.

Yeah I know that. Big deal. What's your point? I'm asking you about the negative press you claim Italians get. Im asking you where we have blasted Italians for playing catenaccio.

But it's been said and I already know you have no point, so let's leave it.

Yeah Nick, IF. But now it's 5-6 with us missing a great many tournaments that we would have had a shout in. ;)

THe point is quite clear.. I made it long ago...
North America gets its 'soccer news' from the English press for the most part and more importantly, the less than expert soccer writer in North America is highly influenced by the English press. As a result, the 'catenaccio' CRAP has been an argument I have had to defend back home forever. People with limited football knowledge will conclude that Italian soccer is boring because "its too defensive" and state that a 0-0 scoreline is typical Italian.
The other point is that as of the last 7 years other nations have also taken to this idea that Italian football is the Anti-football: Johan Cruyff BEFORE the Milan-Juventus final stated "Italian teams should not be allowed to both be in a final for the sake of the game"...
Italy's loss to S. Korea was attributed to its 'catenaccio' style that it refues to modify and so on...
At this point italian football and catenaccio is so deeply intertwined that they fail to realize that others do the same ....

Once again, it's not like it doesn't exist. I have given you many examples of English slander towards the Italian game, but fair enough. Send me some newspapers.
Actually most English papers and tv stations are pretty respectful towards Italian football. English people in general though, don't like Italians very much. Well, at least that's what it looks like. FFS, we know Italians eat spaghetti already :).
