Nah, that's highschool.

College is sorta like a pre-university.
MIT is an university, right? I took the math/chemistry admission tests back in the day and the knowledge required was pretty much what we learned in school. That's why I was wondering if college and our Oberstufe were the same

but then again highschool is far from our gymnasium.
it might be kinda the same on paper but the gymnasium is way more difficult.
high-school = Realschule i’d say. (based on what you actually learn)

you clould write a book about it, thats how difficult it is to point
out the differences.

Not in terms of student age/number of years of schooling beforehand.

I think in general it's elimnatary school: 6-10 (Volksschule)
Middle school/Junior High (virtually the same with different names iirc): 10-14 (Unterstufe)
High school: 14-18 (Oberstufe)

Then college and university are kinda difficult to distinguish at times, university is more academic while college is more focused on training for jobs, but there are no real equivalents in Germany. And yeah, MIT is a university, pretty sure about that.
