Meh, assuming you don't follow some "everything is political" bullshit, there's a lot of personal trauma as well. I wouldn't say that most school shootings were poltically motivated or fall under the category of terrorism.

Btw I defenitely agree with you in that terrorism is often very selectively applied - or not applied - to certain events.
Dude, everyone doing messed stuff have personal trauma's. That's not what we were discussing.

Well to a certain degree yes, of course, but the question remains whether an action is politically or religiously motivated as well.
For example, in the case of Breivik or the guy in Sidney, of course they had some personal psychological problems, but the respective religious or ideological material they came into contact with and studied closely (fundamentalist Christianity/right-wing extremism and radical Islam respectively) certainly acted as a motivation behind their actions too.

What religious ideology is it when you kill people for the sake of power, money and other worldly gains? The people that wear fancy suits and don't ever go punished and that never make the newspapers. The people we call entrepreneurs, businessmen, political leaders, moguls, etc. The people that kill and ruin the lives of generations of people by signing documents, checks, and making business deals without firing a single bullet. Do those people follow the God of the godless?

And that's why I said "out of the blue" mass killings doesn't exist.

Exactly my point. People can lead this crusade against religion all they want and I guarantee that even without religion humans will behave the exact same way.
It would be quite laughable to believe that humanity would be all love and harmony in the absence of religion. That's like suggesting I'd love Inter if it wasn't for Javier Zanetti.

Tribalism by any other name, really.

unstable middle eastern guy kills people. he's a terrorist.

unstable white guy goes on a killing spree. he's an unstable man with a tragic background
... which then translates into "white privilege" arguments where essentially all white males are targeted by those that call themselves "Liberals."

So maybe the fucktards at FEMA and Der Homeland are right and the "racist Tea Party" will combine with the Islamic Extremists to develop some fantastical terrorist group consisting of a bunch of Clayton Bigsby's, white/arab supremacists.
