Least secular country in the world?
I learn something new everyday.
Israel doesn't impose the death penalty for apostasy, it does not condemn gays to die. It does not value the worth of a woman as being half that of a man. It does not allow polygamy. It does not jail people for speaking out against religion.
Like Igortudor said, a plurality of Israelis are atheists/agnostics, it is the least religious country in the Middle East.

Except jewish is not a religion but a race or nationality, scattered all over the planet. (which makes it look like a religion)
Race? Lol

It's how they define themselves, as a nationhood. 65% of Israeli jews are atheists anyway. Do you think they withheld that information from immigration office upon arriving?
Are you familiar with the immigration procedure for israel? You need a letter from a rabbi for aliyah stop spreading false info

Great, it is still the only country based solely on religion

:agree: I also think they are more of a religious apartheid rather than a religious country.

Lol north African jews are closer genetically to southern europeans and other north africans than they are to ashkenazi jews, let's not even talk about Ethiopian jews, no amount of data massaging can't change facts
And in regards of that rabbi thing you mentioned earlier you can immigrate by either ancestry or religion. Rabbis officialize the status of born jews and persons with jewish ancestry. Their faith is completely irrelevant unless it's somebody without jewish lineage and that's where they make him convert to judaism.

A country's raison d etre is a religious one, a simple adherence to said faith gives you access citizenship
If a country is founded to be a safe haven for Jews and defines itself as Jewish in nature, while having an almost exclusively Jewish population made up by Jewish immigrants from all over the world, I'd say that this Jewish thing seems to be the very core of this country.
I see. Government of Iran supports all of Shiite movements everywhere, and even though in its constitution gives freedom to religious minorities on paper, it broadly discriminates against anybody who is not a Shiite Muslim. It doesn't count as "solely based on religion" in your books?

EDIT: Oh and I forgot to say the highest official in the country has to be a Shiite cleric.

This whole Jewish race thing is absolute nonsense.

It's as fictional as the Pleiadians.

I know a guy who identifies himself as Pleiadian :D
hey you can identify yourself as anything today thanks to tumblr and columbia university

btw the term 'race' is obviously the strongest antipode to the 'only religion and faith' claim further up. Stepping down a bit and leaving genetics aside the jews at the very least share a cultural and ethnical, I'd even say national identity based on history, customs, and language. Religion can add up to it, but not necessarily.

Faith and religion are not the same thing and i lost count the number of times you contradicted yourself in the post above

No for the simple fact that the name of the place ends with of Iran, if you notice that's why isis dropped the iraq and Syria. Iran definitely bases the majority of its constitution on shiaa dogma but it represents a distinct nation which could easily change its ruling system and still remain Iran. The essence of israel on the other hand is strictly judaism.

It's the same as american blacks, mostly of west african descent, claiming their ancestors built the pyramids :sergoi:

And I lost the number of times I've received a toxic and condescending reply by somebody who is supposed to enforce a friendly climate. And it was you who used faith and religion as synonyms from #6576 to #6581 so I chose to answer that way. Good Night

Wait, are we talking about nation or state? If state of Israel is based on Judaism I can't see how it cannot change in the future, and how it is different from the Islamic Republic of Iran. If we're talking about the nation, then the dominion Pakistan was also founded as a nation of Muslims in British India.
They don't give passports to all of the Muslims, but that's simply not practical anyway because of the number of Muslims

Exactly a nation for indian muslims, not for Muslims in general the national identity supercedes the religion, while in israel that is not the case hence the apartheid accusations

Honestly I don't see Islam and national identity of Pakistan as mutually exclusive. But in general I get your point.
