I get that for military it doesn't matter who is president, they follow orders and serve regardless. And even a politician praising or complimenting the military may not do anything for them. Just use it for PR reasons.
But on human level, does it not annoy you Trump actively goes out of his way to show disdain and utter disrespect to people who lay down their lives for their country? Not even him as president or politician, but on human level to say they suckers and losers, not even the living servicemen, but to mock those who laid down their lives? That's truly ugly and heinous imo.
Most cynical political class may see military grunts as cannon fodder to do their bidding, but what level of sociopathic behaviour does it take to verbalise outright insults on soldiers who died for their country simply for the fact they died in active duty?
Verbalizing because of their own tasteless words versus sending you to battle over something completely irrelevant to our way of life
neither are ideal but I can tell you me personally would rather take the words over say boots in the ground in the Middle East or Ukraine god forbid
yeah we are cannon fodder for just about anyone in Washington. No argument there. We get paid to go to work and do whatever it is that’s asked of us. Despite what he may or may not have said, at the end of the day I haven’t had any friends lost to war. My wife can’t say the same she was in the Navy long before I joined. I got in under Obama and hated him but still joined knowing the same as I do about any politician.
i don’t really like the tit for tat anymore - Trump did this, but Biden did that, or bush - etc. all the same to me now. You get used to it. “Things will be better with a new president”. Well to many of us it was better under Trump for the no war part - that boosted morale. Also got a raise there (not 100% sure if at all was because of trump or was already budgeted)

Many join for career change; get out of bad situation etc; others serve because they think it’s their duty or a combination of things
we will be ready regardless as best as we can be regardless who sits in the WH. I’m fairly confident it will be Kamala, maybe I’m wrong. I’m basically resigned to the fact it will be. Another example - military people aren’t even mad over Walz issues with stolen valor - we are just used to being expendable regardless. Nothing really surprises us I guess
