Yeah 90s were it, but if you were white 50s
Internet gave a megaphone to the loudest imbeciles on the fringe. Gave them a way to organize and group together. And smashed the very idea of the nuclear family that led to so much prosperity and stability for the better part of the 50s through the 90s.

Now we have critical race theory asshats saying the nuclear family was racist at its core. Lol

Isn't that whole idealistic 50s image false though? Sure there was now a middle class that could purchase desires instead of just bare necessities but wasn't there high violent crime, alcoholism and domestic violence. Possible not unrelated to the fact millions of young men were traumatized from ww2 and society didn't talk about it

I think 9/11 was the turning point. So much changed after that. We can sit for days discussing newly acquired powers for the 3 letter agencies, overuse of executive power, or like you said how culture is now shaped by internet either through fringe groups or intel agencies. But you could just feel it in the air in the immediate aftermath of 9/11 that nothing was gonna be the same again.

You have to remember it's when the baby boomer "back in my day" generation grew up, so naturally they make it seem almost perfect.

Yeah. But not directly. Feminism been around forever, but it’s all the shit that spiralled out in every direction from feminism once the internet arrived.

Didn't this extend into the 80s though or so? Maybe even mid 90s.
That’s what I said. 50s through the 90s. Golden age for Murica and Canada.

Agreed. It’s also interesting that post-9/11 was really when all these lunatic fringe progressive groups really exploded into the mainstream view. Alongside the other consequences you mentioned. World’s gotten crazier and crazier by the year since.

Which imo is an indication that there's a big piece of the equation missing, so many important question are lacking convincing answers, that's why conspiracy theories abound, a big critical chunk of relevant info is not made clear.

I heard a theory this all really went off the rails with insane identity politics suddenly pushed into mainstream discourse after Occupy Wall Street
