These people are either insignificant in number, support, and appeal, in which case they don't matter because democracy. Or they are growing in number, power, and platform, which is again no problem because democracy. Don't forget that these people are elected. You can't be for democracy, freedom of thought and expression, and see this as anything other than a perspective, which yes may change the politics in the country. Having to accept that in a democracy, an opposing perspective, as wrong as it may be, can get enough popularity to make a significant change to the system is how you can make sense of the hysteria on the right.
