Absolutely, that's why I said it made me realize that "again".

Also I'm talking about normal people not those with political motivations. My generally positive impression of religious people was formed based on my life experiences in Iran, having grown up in a religious family (my grandfather was an ayatollah), and it survived the Iranian government's religious agenda and discrimination, compulsory hejab, moral police [:p], etc.
Really? My grandfather was also an ayatollah. You can't make this up. :D
I try to keep a positive impression towards them too. Rejecting anything that you don't believe in is as stupid as it gets. though my positive impression usually fades when I talk to them more, and see that most often they have this sense of moral superiority. They think they are absolutely right, while you always are in doubt about your own ideas.
This of course does not apply to every religious people I've met but exceptions are pretty rare.

On Thursday afternoon, the U.S. Department of Justice officially rescinded its policy barring the use of private prisons—an order that had been put in place by the Obama administration last year.
A memo sent by current Attorney General Jeff Sessions explained that the August 2016 order to end the DOJ’s use of private prisons, “impaired the Bureau’s ability to meet the future needs of the federal correctional system.”

And then 25 minutes ago from Dolan:

Seven people shot and killed yesterday in Chicago. What is going on there - totally out of control. Chicago needs help!

No way

My grandfather was against the idea of the Islamic revolution, always believed religion should stay at home or it will kill and die. I'm a very proud ayatollah grandchild :D

My impression is not so much moral superiority as it is the confidence they have in their better and more rewarding afterlife, and I tend to give that to them :p

Mine died before the revolution so never got the chance to see the madness that ensued. My other grandfather was the exact opposite. A unrepentant atheist who lost his not-so-strong religion after a trip to Mecca. He could not stop cursing mullahs. But when he died his children put that "Haji" title in his death announcement.

BUY!!!

My favorite poems of Saadi's are his romantic ones, extremely beautiful I can't even stress enough. You'll find some in Boostan, though Boostan mostly consists of Saadi's understanding of life and people as well as his life experiences, which i'm sure you'll love. I wish i knew of an english translation of his Ghazaliyat, only thing I found was this:

Lol Mecca is usually a spiritual trip, many of my relatives and even friends became (more) religious after their trip to Mecca.

Old people who curse mullahs are the best

Mecca is so modernized these days. Back then it was as clean as it is now. He was disgusted by how dirty the whole experience was. Also he went there with his mother in law :D
By the way I absolutely second your opinion on Saadi love poems. They are the best. Lesser known than Hafiz, but definitely a national treasure.

When Trump talked about draining the swamp he didn't mean wall street, but the discoloured.

Endlösung der 'immigrant'-frage

See this is why Trump was always right. Another example of an immigrant killing real Americans.

Man I thought they were Indians as in native Americans. My joke is dead.
Just like the indians

So there was a story yesterday on CNN that Trump administration asked FBI to stop their Russia investigation. Trump just confirms it by lashing on FBI leakers
