"Liberals" are focused on a couple of manchildren playing dress-up (to compare these people to the old KKK is ridiculous), and fail to realise real racism is not out there in the open. It's systematic and hidden, and intertwined all throughout the fabric of society.

They keep giving excuses to minorities to fail, and instead of telling them to pick themselves up, they point the finger to republicans and white men. Sure, a black man might have to put up with more discrimination than a white man, but that white man might have health problems, might have mental issues, family problems, that the black man doesn't have. Racism is only one factor. And it's certainly not an excuse for giving up on bettering and educating yourself. We all have shit that hinder our lives. That's the reality and it sucks but it is what it is.

This article about identity politics is interesting.

http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/11/20/opinion/sunday/the-end-of-identity-liberalism.html?referer=

Especially this part:

"Finally, the whitelash thesis is convenient because it absolves liberals of not recognizing how their own obsession with diversity has encouraged white, rural, religious Americans to think of themselves as a disadvantaged group whose identity is being threatened or ignored. Such people are not actually reacting against the reality of our diverse America (they tend, after all, to live in homogeneous areas of the country). But they are reacting against the omnipresent rhetoric of identity, which is what they mean by “political correctness.” Liberals should bear in mind that the first identity movement in American politics was the Ku Klux Klan, which still exists. Those who play the identity game should be prepared to lose it.

We need a post-identity liberalism, and it should draw from the past successes of pre-identity liberalism. Such a liberalism would concentrate on widening its base by appealing to Americans as Americans and emphasizing the issues that affect a vast majority of them. It would speak to the nation as a nation of citizens who are in this together and must help one another. As for narrower issues that are highly charged symbolically and can drive potential allies away, especially those touching on sexuality and religion, such a liberalism would work quietly, sensitively and with a proper sense of scale. (To paraphrase Bernie Sanders, America is sick and tired of hearing about liberals’ damn bathrooms.)"

At the same time, we have minorities with so many cards against them who are managing to succeed ... and yet we're instead talking about mostly white establishment voters offered many advantages said minorities don't have and yet they are failing left and right.

Looks like Trump got pwned by Carrier. Tough on outsourcing Trump gives a tax and regulatory cut and company still outsourcing more than 1000 jobs to Mexico.

US working class is gonna be super disappointed with their selection.

But was there ever going to be any other outcome? "Bringing the jobs back" is a ridiculous joke. Tell that to my neighborhood blacksmith and cobbler.

Btw, anybody else notice how Trump is filling these cabinet positions with people who supposedly "look the part"?

Seriously, he thinks he's casting a reality TV show.

I thought the Carrier deal was a farce initially, but if you look at it in detail it's not that bad.

Those jobs average annually at $60,000, and 800 employees means Carrier pays $48 million/annually, while they're only getting $700,000/annually in tax breaks. You make up that tax break just in payroll tax.

It's a great deal for Carrier.

Trump's cabinet picks so far are all hilarious and sad at the same time. It's basically the realization of a realistically pessimistic scenario.

Being a liberal nowadays means you're an incessant whiner and crybaby who wants the world to revolve around them and their moronic ideals. Hardly "liberal" and anything one would want to strive to be.

I have lived in West Virginia for 5 years and have not seen one single racist thing occur. I spent over 20 years near the racist capital of Maryland with kkk members everywhere, underneath every crevice, and not one racist thing seen. There is probably more manufactured racism (some Hispanic kids drawing swastikas on synagogues or mosques and it's blamed on whites) than true deeply seeded racism. Get over yourselves, it is almost 2017. The shit doesn't exist anymore.
