Thomas Sowell is interesting on some topics but his ideology is contradictory. Social conversatism and Austrian Economics (unrestricted free markets) are incompatible as there is nothing more destructive of social traditions and institutions than the unrestricted free market (Marx's critique of capitalism as destructive of social norms and institutions is quite apt here, as is Hegel's critique of what he calls the Savage Beast).

Social conservatism and Austrianism/Libertarianism are incompatible.

I did make a mistake, Sowell is of the Chicago School rather than the Austrian, but I do think that the same applies for the Chicago School.

Marx was indeed a little bitch (communism is absolute garbage) but his critique of capitalism is valid. Hegel is extremely tedious and boring but he had some interesting analyses.

To not be misunderstood, I'm not an opponent of the market, as long as its well regulated by the state. Unrestricted marked is destructive of social values and institutions.

marx was a bored guy who knew as much about the working man as he did about any sense of responsibility, if you did watch the video Sowell highlighted a very important point. Conservative approach never aims for a utopian or perfect outcome, it's all about trade-offs. There isnt one society in human history which thrived in anything other than a market economy

I mean a lot of his critique is not applicable to modern capitalism (how could it be, keeping in mind that the economic system looked very different back then - you wouldn't take Smith's and Ricardo's works and apply them one-for-one to modern capitalism either), but there is a lot of very valid criticism in his thoughts, in fact, I'd argue that most of his effort actually went into a criticism of capitalism rather than developing communism. The Capital for example is little more than an analysis and critique of capitalism.
