The insurance my job gives me is actually pretty sweet. Low deductible, covers pretty much anything, very reasonable cost.

a lot of people get shafted on theirs. My parents work for the same company and their insurance has been getting worse every fucking year, it basically covers nothing, just shady shit from the owners who want to pay as little as possible. This other lady that has been working there for 20+ years is paying 700+ a month because her husband needs medical care and he’s listed as a dependent. And she’s a floor worker so she’s not making much.

most companies are fucked, they just want increased profits every quarter and will squeeze pennies from their workers to make the numbers looks right. That’s why it’s bullshit that they get away with so much, pay low taxes and are not held accountable.

fuck them, if you wanna call helping people socialism, go ahead but capitalism the way it works in America now is broken. It’s just making rich people richer by taking from the middle class and the poor.

hope Bernie wins and the millenials that will take over eventually, and they will, carry his vision forward

It would've been hilarious if Ted Cruz lost Texas to Beto. The shift is going to happen eventually?

Why? Private insurance sucks, it's not like anyone genuinely likes their insurance company. It's all a scam.
As bad as healthcare system in this country is getting rid of it in favor of a whole new untested thing might be politically risky. I can imagine a propaganda on how it'll lead to healthcare rationing and all that. Nobody likes their insurance company, but they get scared if they are told they have to wait in line to see their doctor.
On Texas it's still a solid red state. Democratic party here has no structure whatsoever. Organizations like Battleground Texas tried to turn it blue in past few years but faced an outdated party organization who could not recruit good candidates. Just last year they nominated a woman named Lupe Valdez for governor, who was totally uninspiring. She had 500k cash while Greg Abbott, the governor had 10 million. Democratic party of Texas could've done better given Beto's popularity (or Cruz's unpopularity). Beto almost beat Cruz not because of the party but in spite of it.
But Trump is as divisive a figure as it gets. MJ Hegar who is running for Senate against John Cornyn is not a bad candidate either. It might happen this time.

it's the best shot he has imo, people may vote democrat just because they're tired of trump but yeah, unlikely to win. it's hilarious, the most retarded person becomes president and the dems still can't come up with a good solution.

i've got my hopes up for bernie tho, hoping people wake up and realize he wants what's best for them.

yeah, explains a lot of people i know too.
it’s funny, they’re voting themselves from $50/hr to $16/hr cause trump is tough on minorities

True. I do believe it will eventually happen though.

Kinda sounds like Republicans here. I guess they just abandon a state where they perceive themselves to have no chance.

Yeah it must happen. Single payer is the way to go.
By the way I’ll be moving to Long Island soon. Wish i could’ve voted in Texas in 2020.

Why Long Island? Also where? Taxes are crazy high there.
My wife has recently become a professor in SBU, and I just got a job not too far from there. I still would’ve preferred Austin but this gives both of us a chance to what we like.
I know property taxes are really high there. Actually they are not that much lower in Texas either. My tax rate is 2.6% for example. We don’t have state income taxes though.

Trump has very little chance of winning
I’d hope this was the case, but the same was said to even greater extent in 2016. The electoral college and its small state power will always give Republicans a chance to win because of their base and just needing to grab a couple swing states. He’ll lose the popular vote again certainly... but whether that’s enough for the Dems to knock him out in the swing states is anyone’s guess. If he gets a China deal done and the economy keeps humming along, it’s likely that pushes him to a second term, especially if the democrats choose another unlikable candidate.

US needs electoral reform. Electoral college is outdated. Having a senate massively skewed in favour of low population states, and the house somewhat skewed towards smaller population states... when you are voting for president it should definitely be popular vote based. Seeing as voting power of large state residents is absurdly low already, getting punished in the presidential election too is rather ridiculous.

Not by me.

Not that I predicted Trump would win but I predicted it'd be a lot closer than most thought for several reasons:
- many dems disliked Hilarity & won't come out to vote
- many dems didn't see point of voting thinking it was a slam dunk for Hilarity either way
- Orange Julius lovers on the other hand were def gonna vote
- poles didn't take into account many trump supporters aren't tech savvy and were less likely to take part in online polls

As for 2020, Trump having little chance to win is staring at you in the face. Any diff conclusion is a result of analysis paralysis.

I had it close too, mostly because of how extremely unlikable Hillary was as a candidate, regardless of whether this animosity towards her was actually justified or not.

I’d say the likeliest reason for Trump having little chance in the upcoming election is massive turnout from voter groups that generally don’t turnout at high levels... young people, and poor minorities... both those groups contribute to Trump’s historic unpopularity. So it could be said they will turn out this time regardless of candidate for the Democrats... but Trump is polling decently this time (against a couple of the Dem front runners), and if the Dems nominee is Warren/etc it could get awfully close again.

You think the world would be exactly the same as it is now if Hillary had won? Or Bernie? Or Kasich?
Trump may be a retarded fool but I dunno if he's worse than Hillary Clinton.
Bernie seems nice but socialists in America won't live for long.
He may even win elections (for what matters) but then he's gonna be attacked for every action he is gonna take on whatever.
To me a good president of Usa is one who'll recall all the american soldiers home and stop waging wars and threaten other countries cause they don't follow what's best for USA.
To sum it up: Back the fuck up and let the world be free.

well nothing hard to do just copy what any europhean country does with healthcare.
make them pay taxes directly in wages offer them "free healthcare" and nobody would cry a river.
Also private healthcare won't die at all.
Those willingly to pay for private and more luxurious services will still show up.

Still less power for private healthcare as you won't be forced to pay them.

Because it's pretty much absurd for any europhean if you tell them you're gonna go for broke if you're not as healthy as a fish (or so we say around here)

I know. That’s Bernie and Warren’s plan. But 1-nobody likes higher taxes and 2- the transition period to no private PRIMARY health insurance makes people nervous.
Also fish is a strange choice for being a symbol for health.

I struggle to think of how Hillary could've been worse than him.
He has already been in various offices since before I was born, so he has already "lived" a while.

That's never going to happen and we both know it.
