I don't think you guys understand what sort of people we have here.

These are the type of people that vote Trump. These are the type of people that don't believe that there's no human impact on climate change. They're all the same people, and there's unfortunately way too many of them. Things aren't going to change until either more educated people start paying attention, or these people stop/die off with age.

That "Liberty Memes" page is pure retardation 90% of the time btw. In case you want to cringe a bit have a look.

Even if it is illegal to purchase an assault rifle in any given state, it is the easiest thing in the world to buy it in a state where it is legal and then carry the gun in the trunk of your car. It's not as if they have border control between states.

I don’t have anything against the right to bear arms, if anything it helps a lot of people out. But assault rifles or rifles of any kind should be banned. Fucking shotguns too. Some of these weapons have no use whatsoever in any situation that doesn’t involve a fight against another person with a similar weapon. And no, you won’t be able to stop the government with your fucking stupid guns.

They do play a big role in self defense where I fully support the 2nd amendment and maybe the ability for the population to only buy certain guns.

Rifles and shotguns are used for hunting. I'm for people being able to own firearms as well, but there NEEDS to be limits, and there NEEDS to be strict controls on it.

True, especially for the South. I have coworkers who come to work wearing NRA t-shirts on Fridays with a AK-47 printed on it.
But the politics of gun is pretty complicated. In a 2 party system with people divided almost equally between parties you just need a devoted group of people to swing elections. It's even worse on heavily red states since primaries determine the winner and the turnout is not high. That's what NRA has: a devoted single issue following.
After Sandy Hook there was a push to expand background checks in the Senate and I think it had 80%+ approval rating but it did not go anywhere.

EDIT: Expanded background check bill had a popularity rating of 90%

There's just so much work to be done on so many issues, it's so frustrating. I really believe things are going to begin to change a lot off once the boomers are no longer in the picture.

Actually, NRA/2nd amendment types are a big minority in the US. Only thing that keeps things the way they are on fire arms is the NRA and it's lies and scared/corrupt politicians.

That was my point. They are minority but they are single issue voters. NRA should not have that much power in reality.
That gun bill on the Senate was very popular, but they killed it.

If they don't start another world war before that happens...

Strangely enough they were the revolution, the flower power, peace and love generation and ended up becoming some of the most disgusting people on the planet.

It's funny you mention that as I was just thinking about it a few days ago too. I have family members that went to Woodstock/were into that whole mentality and yet will turn around and vote Trump. Some stayed the same of course, but for the others it's so contradictory. I really don't get it.
