I had never heard gunshots in my life until I went to LA at 25 lol.

I'm not sure if it was just a coincidence, but I have to say that at least subconsciously I do feel less safe in the US than just about anywhere in Europe because of it.

That’s how it is. Just avoid shady areas and don’t confront or pick fights with strangers, because you never know if the other person will start shooting.

Guns ownership is "illegal" in Chicago lol also I would not put too much faith in -often manipulated stats(in both directions). But the city of chicago as a whole has gotten much more dangerous, while before, the bulk of crime and shootings was limited to only south and west sides. Overall America is not too unsafe, not as safe as europe, but also nowhere near as unsafe as it portrayed in news/media.

Pro tip: If you see a pawn shop, liquor store and a checks cashed joint all within a couple blocks GTFO especially if you are white.

You can't decide to "just carry a gun" in many places, but law differs by state. That retard's tweet is ridiculous in his placement of blame though, just get one from the next state, and he probably knows it too.

I can't speak for other cities, but in New York it's generally very localized, lines denote different police precincts:

Almost all of them are either in the North part of Manhattan, the South Bronx, or Bed-Stuy/Brownsville area. Generally, these aren't places you'd find yourself in anyway unless you're going to Yankee Stadium or something.

but the amount of homicides that go unresolved is pretty high. Given, a lot of those happen in ghettos and shady neighborhoods so cops don’t seem to really give a shit. Philly cops don’t seem to give much of a shit about anything tbh. But they’re still better than the suburb cops who pull over a teenager and call three backup cars.
