I think what afl is saying is that those are cumulative and this is one instance.

but it just so happened that there were a lot of people around and the people shooting have terrible aim. So yeah, just another shooting

So a security camera is running off this guy's iPhone with his Control Center showing up at the end?

Always wanted to move to Portugal, but I've never even visited there. Was it a reasonably easy process? My parents are traveling there now and it sounds fantastic.
It's bureaucratic, but nothing too fancy. One of the harder parts was getting a NIF, which is a tax number. You need it for bank accounts, jobs, everything... and you don't have to be a resident to get one. The residency wasn't bad either, but the wait was forever ... taking 6-12 months to get an appointment sometimes.

There's a kind of poetry to Portuguese bureaucracy. You can't be in a rush and you need to languish with the waits. But you'll get there. And it might take four people to discuss how to handle your situation because a couple things are in conflict with each other.

If you’re a US citizen, keep in mind that the IRS will still tax you even if move abroad.
100%.

And it goes beyond that. Not just if you're trying to escape crypto taxes. The long arm of US tax law is like the world's financial proctologist. Their latex-gloved fingers are up the anus of every financial institution on the planet. So nobody will touch you -- like a leper -- if there's some kind of interest or investment going on. Because the US will SWIFTly smack them with massive fines if they fail to report a US citizen who made $42 of cap gains on a stock sale.

The US financially treats their citizens a lot like China and Russia do theirs with data laws.

As a result, any money I have outside the U.S. mostly rots with cost of living increases, but I can invest through my US accounts.

Oh man, I am in tears. If we ever needed evidence that the Internet has destroyed democracy, this has to be up there.

While I've been living in Portugal for the past 4 years, I still have a tiny home in California and vote in their elections. The governor and senator primary election information has come my way. Now realize that people have to lobby for enough signatures to be put on the ballot as a candidate. And these are some of the total nut jobs that have invaded the "Official Voter Information Guide" as published by the state with taxpayer money...

https://voterguide.sos.ca.gov/

You always had the nut job trans person named "Starchild" who would run for city assembly in San Francisco. But I don't ever remember seeing quite the clown show like this for state-level candidates. It's almost like it was made up by The Onion.

Some samples... it's no wonder why Americans are shooting the crap out of each other when everyone has literally lost their
