Penn is amazing. But Hollywood is decidedly a Southern California thing, and the San Francisco story of Harvey Milk plus the gay thing (save for West Hollywood) is a decidedly Northern California story thing. NorCal and SoCal are like oil and water in some ways -- they don't really mix. SoCal always elects all the governors, for example, due to their population advantage.

So I don't agree with that theory -- very little of what goes on in NorCal matters to the Hollywood set.



Leary is basically angry at stupidity. Lewis Black is that way, and he's way liberal. Just that Leary will take cheap shots at liberals or conservatives -- he really doesn't care.
