I do like Bond, a lot. I mean the franchise, the character, the tradition. I've seen all the movies (up and including Casino Royale). But Daniel Craig is an uncultured dweeb who isn't fit to be Bond's janitor. And frankly I don't care if you say that they needed to make Bond mentally handicapped at first so that they could build the character and bring him back to his real self gradually. It sucks.

Sean Connery is great, but as Bond he wasn't numbah one.

i just realized, i haven't seen all of the bond actors anyway. who do you prefer?
and what did you think after brosnan?
First impressions are big and the first Bond I saw was Roger Moore. So he personifies the character in my eyes. The various Bond actors are quite different so it's no wonder people have strong opinions about them.

Pierce Brosnan I like a lot too, he was a really cool modern Bond. I've seen him in some other movies and it's like Bond was a perfect fit for him, he's never been as good in anything else I've seen (unlike Connery who's an accomplished actor). One character I really hate in modern Bond is the female M, she's a total bitch, no class like the original M.

Tomorrow never dies was one of the best movies in my view. The ones after that took a sharp turn downhill.

dalton was really awful, he was in two of them. lazenby did one.

Tomorrow never dies was the evil media magnate who wanted to end the world through disinformation, pitting the Brits against the Chinese (as if the Brits would have a chance in hell :D ). Main locations were Hamburg, Saigon. It was Brosnan's second movie, Goldeneye was also good.

Clive Owen should have been the new Bond, he would have been perfect IMO.

Craig has given Bond a new look and a new attitude, which I think is great...Eric Bana would be great IMO...

I liked Dalton, his Bond was darker and closer to the character of Ian Fleming's books than arguably any other especially following on from Roger Moore, who really wasn't anything like the true Bond Fleming intended.

You could say Daniel Craig's role as Bond is most similar to Dalton and he was getting rave reviews for being a darker character.

For me Pierce Brosnan's films were truelly terrible, (although I liked Goldeneye but that was more to do with the N64 game) and his last one was laughable!

Okay, I have to say this cause you people are relentless. Now, I realize that Bond started in the 60s and we didn't have a long history of film making back then. But at least now, in 2008, we know something, we've learned something.

A movie based on a book is not made for the people who love the book. There, I said it. I think we've seen time and time again that a movie that tries to stay true to the story in a novel ends up being deeply flawed in all sorts of ways. It's like trying to flush your cat down the toilet, it's possible (I assume) but noone would admire you for it. The movie is made for a different audience, a new one, a larger one. It gives people who never heard about the book a chance to enjoy the story, not the exact same story, but a similar story.

So Broccoli didn't make Bond like Ian Flemming wrote. Why would I care? I saw the movies, I liked them, especially as a teenager, that's really all I need to know. I haven't read the books and I have no plans to read them. The movies themselves make a perfectly good foundations to base opinions about Bond on.

you didn't like his personality?
