I watched about 20 minutes of Texas Chainsaw Massacre before my girlfriend and I walked out and got a refund.
I can watch any horror movies about ghosts, bimbo teenagers getting murdered, and anything else supernatural, but this is based on a true story, and it's too close to the real world.
I simply don't believe that the human mind was designed to handle these kind of emotions. It's a really disturbing movie, and I heard it's 10 times scarier than The Ring, which I found pretty scary.
Call me a wuss, I couldn't care less, but I'm glad that I could use my judgment to decide that watching this kind of movie can't be healthy for mental health.
One of the factors for me not sitting through this movie is my new house. It's in a much more rural area than my old place, and as such, my house is about 20 metres away from the front gate, which i have to exit my car in order to open. It's a dark walk, and I don't need unwholesome thoughts going through my head while walking through pitch black. My room also has (apart from the normal door to enter) a set of double doors leading out onto my balcony. The door has about 16 glass panes on it, and i don't need to be imagining scary thiings while sitting right next to that window on my computer.
I thought it'd be corny, because i've seen other power-tool murder movies, and they were just ass, but the camera techniques, and pretty much everything about this movie from my inital impression turned me off it.
My advice for the weak-hearted such as myself: Don't watch this movie. It's f$#@ng disturbing
