The Shape of Water - I remember watching a documentary about H. P. Lovecraft. One of the things they mentioned was a creature from the water etc. In that show they even talked to Guillermo del Toro (who I think loves Lovecraft), so I can't help but think how it was him who was the main inspiration for the movie. As for the movie, I think it was good, I enjoyed it. I think it's gonna be one of those movies that will be watched even in 20-30 years as it holds the nostalgic note in it. The only thing that I didn't like was how predictable it was. Still, very entertaining and nice thing to watch.

Evil Under the Sun (1982) - Great. I really enjoyed it.

A River Runs Through It (1992) - I loved it.

I saw the trailer and it doesn't look like a (black) comedy. Although it looks exiting.

No doubt about that. I'm planning to see it in the upcoming days if possible.

I think it's a great one and hopefully it opens fucking eyes to people who never watch anime and Japanese stuff that has more depth than all of the western movies combined.

Makoto Shinkai is great. He's getting up there with Takahata and Miyazaki as far as anime goes.

Although I think you're engaging in a wee bit of hyperbole when you say more depth than all Western movies combined.

Has anyone seen Phantom Thread yet? Daniel Day Lewis' last film

P.s I finally saw the new Star Wars. I'm not into Star Wars at all but I was impressed. Much better story than the last. One annoying thing was the cheesy humor that's in so many movies these days - sarcastic and frankly awkward banter. Everyone's sassing each other. The same sorry excuse for humor that had me walk out of Gardians of the Galaxy.

On the other hand, I loved Tarr's Werckmeister harmóniák. I think that's a brilliant movie and a real piece of art.

Just watched The Death of Stalin and its really good. Its actually much more srs and darker than the trailer shows. There are comedy elements but the film gets darker as it progresses and it becomes quite srs.

Buscemi is brilliant as Khrushchev. And the cast in general is great (Palin, Tambor, Isaacs, Friend, Considine, Kurylenko, Riseborough).
