Ryan Reynolds :inter:

More superhero movies :inter:
Take off the hipster glasses for a second, and in pure entertainment purposes, tell me with a straight face you have seen or read a single thing of Deadpool and have found him not amusing/fucked up crazy :D

Little mock write up about him by an actual psychologist hehe:

By Tim Stevens Wade Wilson, better known as the mercenary Deadpool, is a badly scarred athletic adult male. He presents as braggadocios and manic, speaking in a manner that can best be described as "stream of consciousness" about anything and everything that captures his interest in that particular moment. The client appears to be quite knowledgeable in a variety of areas, especially those items based in pop culture media. The client continues to make a living predominantly as a soldier of fortune for what he claims to be "any cause that will pay me enough." Possible symptoms of mental illness include memory loss, confused or contradictory memories, visual hallucinations of yellow boxes containing his thoughts spelled out in words, and delusions of grandeur involving being a figure known as Mithras who had a pivotal role in the continued existence of human life.

Unfortunately, this writer cannot provide a formal diagnosis of the client at this time. In session, he is impossible to redirect and provides misleading, irrelevant, incongruous, and outright incorrect information in response to the questions that he does acknowledge and choose to answer. Three of the seven sessions the client has attended have consisted almost entirely of an in-depth discussion of the film D.E.B.S. and how it reflects society's degradation. The writer admits that this was allowed to take place because it was expected that it would offer insight into Wilson's character at some point. Alas, it was simply another exercise in following the client down another dead end. The client has also largely refused to set goals. When he does consider them, they have been unacceptable. For instance, he has suggested that, "getting with Siryn" and "killing the heck out of T-Ray" are perfectly acceptable long term goals for improving his mental health. Enrollment in group therapy, use of medication, and commitment were all rejected by the client without hesitation. To make matters worse, the client spent 20 minutes in the most recent session detailing how he would break into the writer's house and slay the writer's family as a "public service announcement." Attempts at redirection were met with either outright ignoring or the client insisting, "Now, doc, this is important for you to hear."

For these reasons, I must insist that Wilson be placed onto another therapist's caseload. The writer continues to believe that the client would benefit from therapy. Given any version of his life that he or the files on him has detailed, the client has an extensive trauma history dating as far back as his childhood. It seems likely that his "banter" is a coping mechanism and amounts to dissociation. His psychological health was very likely deeply damaged during his time with Weapon X and the Hospice and he has yet to face down those events and deal with them. Also, it is highly likely that the client has a traumatic brain injury from the first time he "died." Sadly, given the state of the therapeutic relationship at this time, the writer is not the correct choice to guide Wilson down the path to mental stability

Too old to be a hipster i'm afraid, i'll leave this for the likes of PostIronic and AlexJuventino :D And don't get me wrong, i grew up collecting comic books, had hundreds of them, loved my superheroes when i was a kid. Deadpool wasn't a favorite but i did like him then.

In fact, the last X-men movie with the Sentinels and the whole going-to-the-past thing really took me back to my childhood, i'd be lying if i said i didn't enjoy it and felt like a kid again... But it's just too much now. They're making movies about every single fucking character just for the money, this trend has oversaturated. And like @Dule90 said, thankfully sooner or later people will get tired of it and move on to the next thing.

Deadpool was more making appearances into my favourite marvel comics when younger then me reading his stand alone stuff too, but potentially very entertaining character to put on the big screen.

Regarding the rest, there's alot of it true, its all bussiness for them, making more and more simply because it sells (movie for Ant-man is taking the piss tho...), but in general I find most of them very good popcorn entertainment, and they are putting things on screen I never imagined would be possible when one read, heard or seen these characters kids in comics or cartoons. Plus Marvel is doing good job of it really (DC slacking big time), so in that sense the more competetive things get, the better quality popcorn entertainment we will have. I mean ask yourself this simple question, if these werent the current trend blockbusters, what would be? Random regular joe action movies that were as ridicolous as these superhero stuff, without the imagination of and larger then life super characters IMO, they relied solely on the charisma of billable action movie star, and we have run out of those since the 90s (I mean FFS not long ago Harrison Ford was still one of the most bankable action stars, its bleak when Gerard Butler, Channing Tatum or Sam Worthington became go-to-guys, and I like Gerard btw).

IMO Movie like Days of our future past wouldnt have been made if things werent so competetive in this field right now. Plus they attract of quality actors to these projects so all the better. Action movies will be the summer blockbusters either way, its just more imaginative (on screen action and worlds) to use a rich vein of material like the comic world as they have been in past years more and more. Defenitely more fun for me atleast with the better more ambitious projects, due to how different the worlds are from what we usually gotten from these type of popcorn movies, plus the boost of having nostalgia kick for so many views (its even entering the tv world big time, cant wait til a netflix series about Daredevil comes out, looks very gritty and compelling, shit like this wouldnt been possible without the comic bubble in movies).

Even if yes agreed its overly saturated market now.

He is not serious leading man acting giant, but he can be very funny and charming in roles like these (is MADE for this role), especially if given a good project, not a guy who has been given that much so far.

Wolverine origins was bad, best thing about that movie was this scene, same character as he is going to play in Deadpool (this is before he became deadpool):
I remember him being in origins , but i don't remember much about that movie . Mainly i haven't liked him in everything i have seen him in . Could be I have only seen bad movies of him , but he hasn't given me the impression of having great charisma . Last movies i have seen him in are , wolverine origins , the spy movie with denzel washington , green lantern and that heaven police cop idiotic movie with jeff briges .

This Deadpool movie is a terrible example of a money grab superhero type of movies.

This movie is being made because fans were begging for it for years, especially after the test footage that was leaked a few years ago. It is made because Reynolds is a geek himself and pushed for it. The studio wanted PG-13 rating but the fans forced it into rating R. This movie is one huge fanservice as of right now.

MGS fan for 20 years, and I been waiting for this since then lol, but the games are basically movies themselves, so I'm not as eager as I was before. But my dream casting used to be Christian Bale when he was younger, now he is way too big and known for him to do the role, would just overshadow the character a bit IMO. But its allways talks of a movie happening, but I doubt it will any time soon.

Exactly  Money grab is Ant-man, who gives a fuck about a stand alone movie for him, but since he is very minor part of Avengers team, he has to get one too to cash in on the whole line of Avengers characters.

I know it could be all BS but I still have hope. Have you seen Metal Gear Solid Philanthropy? I enjoyed it, even with all the cheap ass effects.

Oh...oh.

I have no idea what to make out of it. For some reason I think it's going to be really bad.

So far I only want to see Star Wars. All of them. Out of all 'big' movies coming out this year that's probably the only one I reallllly want to check out.

No I havent, and with how little belief there seems to be in making a movie and not so much big studio people involved, me thinks this will be a bad mistake.

I didn't specify which movie is the money grab type. But that there are people riding this money cow trend instead.

Some of those heroes were never particularly huge but they're getting movies about them. Why? Right now there's a demand, people will go see it nonetheless. There's easy money to be made. But just like any other trend, people will soon lose interest.

And please don't make a MGS movie. We know they'd fuck it up.
