Gattica - Pretty great movie, I did not expect to see that. Good acting, nice plot and overall enjoyable movie.

Fanny and Alexander - Mixed feelings about this one. It will surely stick for a long in my head but I have a feeling it's overhyped just because it's Bergman. I really don't know why/how it got 100/100 metascore. Sure, it was good but that was just... no. But I did enjoy it eventhough it's not my fav movie of his.

Feige has confirmed that the next spidey will be peter parker . He will yet again be in high school around 15-16 years of age . While I am glad that they ultimately went with parker , I am not that excited about the high school thing .

Time to kill this franchise.

Well with this trailer it looks a little bit more interesting , althrough there are still a ton of cheesy lines and the effects seem worse than T3,T2 or even T1 for that matter , the CGI is crap . And there is also the fact that jai courtney shouldn't be in any movie except if he is playing the role of a monkey eating a banana . Also there seems to be a big reveal in this imho , so don't watch if you don't want to be spoiled

Children of Men - It was... solid-ish, nothing special surely. What I liked about it was how they made the whole partial apocalyptic world (for some reason I love seeing such movies) and revolt of the society. But I didn't really like much besides that. It was a pretty crap ending imo, kinda predictable. 7/10 at most
Not that this is going to convince you, but Zizek is really enjoyable to listen to except - or maybe it's exactly because - of his accent.

I watched Winter Light. Before seeing that one I had Persona as my favorite Bergman movie. However, now, I'm sliding with Winter Light. Amazing movie, great acting and even if it has a slow beginning it's still pretty brilliant. Pretty deep and it covers many layers of human nature.
I knew you would like it. :D

Did you watch the long or the short version?

Dude, it's just... overrated. :D Some even call it the best movie in the last 15 years which is horrible imo.

I knew you would like it. :D
Because it's great. :D

I think it's short. It had two parts and each is 1.5h long.

Because he was a brilliant man and I'm just the opposite, so I slide with the better name.

Fair enough. :D

I told you to watch the long one, ffs. :D It's more than two hours longer. The man himself is talking about cutting the original version for tv down to a movie here:
The idea was that we would quickly, in a few days, design the theater version that I already had planned out in my head. I knew rather clearly what I wanted to cut, and my goal was to end up with a two-and-a-half-hour film. We worked at a rapid pace. When we had finished, I discovered to my horror that I had a film almost four hours long. What a shock! I had always given myself credit for having an excellent sense of time and timing. There was nothing to do but start over from the beginning. It was extraordinarily troublesome, since I now had to cut into the vital parts of the film. I knew that with each cut I reduced the quality of my work. We finally ended up in a compromise: the film was three hours and eight minutes long.
Because he was a brilliant man and I'm just the opposite, so I slide with the better name.
I liked you better as Dule90.

Well... that sucks. Sadly I don't think there's a way I'd watch it again now even if it has 2 more hours in it. :D I forgot what you said and when I checked imdb it says it's 3 hours long so I went with that.

Longer version might offer a different view. However there's one thing that I do admit: it's a movie that sticks with you for a long time. Even that day when I wrote that post, when I went to sleep I was thinking about some parts. It makes me wonder sometimes and some of the characters were really, really good. I just thought something was lacking to make it great. Maybe it was those 2 hours missing.

Give it some time. Many times after watching a good, but tough movie I feel confident that I wouldn't want to see it again. But time passes, and eventually you only remember the parts that a left a strong impression on you. Or maybe only that it left a strong impression, and not exactly why. And then you'll want to watch it again. :p

Unlike Winter Light, for example, it's not really an intellectual movie you want or feel the need to analyze. It's an emotional experience. And the sincerity and intimacy of it left a great impression on me (too). It felt, well, real. And that's a quality that can't be overrated imo. :p
