Bale is one of the best actors around. Whats a masterpiece and whats not is just an opinion. For me, his highlights were American Psycho, The Prestige, and The Fighter. Not a big fan of the Batman series, especially the last one. That was very poor.

Looking forward to American Hustle.
No doubt.

He was great in The Machinist. And also in Rescue Dawn, but rarely anyone mentions that movie. :D

You sure did!

I have no clue, actually. It lasted 2 hours and 47 minutes.
That's the long one, then. The versions are quite different, actually. The short version doesn't have the subplot about
Toto meeting Elena as adult and the information about Alfredo not telling Toto...
Since you have seen the long version first, you'll never get the chance to enjoy the short version. :p I do prefer the short version since I think that the long version goes just a tad over the top with the sentimentalism. I don't feel it needs to be that specific about what happened in order for the viewer to understand the emotional depth. Plus details as
Toto losing the virginity with the hooker
ruin the beauty of it. Both versions are masterpieces though.

Ah, I see.

Well from my point of view I really liked the part when they met as adults. As for the second part, yeah, I could understand that.

I had no idea there was short and long version, though. Either way, I'm glad I watched it and it's a wonderful movie.

I just edited my post. It makes a bit more sense now. :p But yeah, it's a masterpiece. You can easily watch it again and again. Morricone's score is out of this world.

You should also watch The Legend of 1900 (make sure to watch the long version). It's by the same director as Cinema Paradiso and basically deals with the same themes. It's an English film, and Tim Roth is the lead. Very underrated movie if you ask me.

I actually had no idea it had Morricone in it and when I saw his name at the beginning I was like 'holy crap, this is great!' :D and it was. Some sad parts were totally alive thanks to his music, it was absolutely brilliant.

lol I can't believe you mentioned that one. When I was seeing Paradiso Cinema at imdb that movie caught my eye and I marked it as the one to watch soon.

Always entertaining to hear about your movie experiences. :p

The Legend of 1900 also has, like almost every Tornatore movie, a Morricone score. An amazing one as well. The film is not as good as Cinema Paradiso and undoubtedly has some flaws, but it's a very enjoyable watch.
