Let me clarify: I do think Revolver is a rather pretentious movie, but it has something that really appealed to me when I saw it. Unlike some other pretentious movies which just make me roll my eyes in disbelief. The Fountain, ayone?
The first Sherlock Holmes was a case of "trying too hard" for me. Oh so jolly & tongue in cheek, yet most of the jokes fell flat. Also thought it was fairly boring, while Jude Law was a bad choice to partner Downey Jr.

I watched Minority Report last night. And wow, I never heard of that movie before, lol. I think it's a great movie. 8.2/10
:D

I agree with your comment on Revolver, I'd just like to add that The Fountain is one of my favorite movies. Alot of people hold it against Aronofsky that he preaches morale in his films (Requiem for a dream has a negative narrative regarding drug use, which is why Trainspotting is 10 times better because it's neutral), but I guess it's because I sort of agree with the message he is preaching in The Fountain. I watched at a stage in my life where I was really beginning to step out of the religious world view I've been brought up with, and The Fountain gives some pretty sweet suggestions as to what eternal life is. I also like the story telling.

who would you pick instead of Jude Law?
Dunno, hadn't really thought about it. Might be personal though, I often dislike him. Even if I did like stuff like Existenz, I Heart Huckabees, Gattaca & Closer.

Meh, maybe I didn't "get" it, but for me The Fountain was a complete disaster in terms of narrative, dialogue, acting, etc. I came pretty damn close to switching it off, which I basically never do. And trust me, I watch a lot of crap.

OK, explain to me WTF was Pi all about then.
Then again, I absolutely loved Pi. Maybe even more wtf, but not nearly as pretentious and a lot more intriguing imo.

To each his own, I dug it :p

Pi is miles ahead of the Fountain in terms of pretentiousness though - it's so pretentious that I don't even get what its about, and I'm a pretty pretentious guy when it comes to taste in movies and music.

Lol I'm far from elitist or pretentious, I watch too much of everything thats crap to be so lol (seen 10 seasons of Smallville :touched: :D).

But regarding Revolver, I see what Buck means, but I was simply more entertained by Sherlock, ok light entertainment, and it wasnt trying to be more then that, while Revolver was truly a mess in what it was trying to be, and failing hard, mainly the ending, but the ending defines a movie like that. Everything else was mainly "ok", except for Mark Strongs character, who you shouldnt need to name a character for to call him that Elvin, he is naturally badass :D

Watched The Man Who Wasn't There

Very slow, almost art film-esque narration. I liked it, but it's really a movie where have to be in the mood for watching a movie rather than being entertained, if you get my drift.
