Invictus. Amazing. Eastwood is becoming one of my favorite directors, everything he does ends up really great. It's got emotion, intensity, good writing and good actors.

Just look at his last films in 2K:

Invictus (2009)
Gran Torino (2008)
Changeling (2008)
Letters from Iwo Jima (2006)
Flags of Our Fathers (2006)
Million Dollar Baby (2004)
Mystic River (2003)

Not a weak one there. Top notch stuff.

Buck, Made Of Honor. pretty enjoyable chick/flic.
Really? I have to say it doesn't exactly look appealing to me.

Kick Ass, have you guys seen that movie? I thought it was just another teen movie but damn that movie was awesome.
Saw it this weekend. Far from flawless, but very enjoyable indeed. Some genuinely funny moments, coupled with some good action sequences. That's all I need.

Finally something we can disagree on, V :D

Out of that list only Million Dollar Baby is a truly good movie, mostly due to the performances by everyone involved.
Changeling was all right, but let down by poor casting. Mystic River was ok, but nothing more. Same goes for Flags.
While Gran Torino was pretty funny. But it wasn't supposed to be.

Yeah, it's pretty good. Not a masterpiece but a good rom/com to pass the time.

Really? Mystic River is one of the best movies ever for me. Flags and Iwo Jima were top notch war dramas, with Iwo being a LOT better, because it's not from the typical American POV. The weakest one there for me was Gran Torino, but even that was a pretty good film there.

I have to admit, I was surprised by my own thoughts on Mystic River. Should have been a movie I really loved (considering the story & cast) but it wasn't. For me, it was just an ok movie, not even close to being great.
Maybe I should give that one another chance though, but for now, when it comes to Dennis Lehane adaptations: Gone Baby Gone > Shutter Island > Mystic River.

As for Gran Torino, I really thought that was, at times at least, clichéd film making. I ended up being quite annoyed with it tbh.
Haven't seen the Iwo Jima one yet.

Gone Baby Gone better than Mystic River? No freaking way, not by a long shot. Haven't seen Shutter Island yet, but you surely need a rewatch of Mystic River. Perhaps you were not in a mood when you watched it, for me one of the best dramas ever, full of intense, fantastic plot with a great twist ending that leaves you with a fucked up feeling.

Watch Iwo Jima, to me it was really, really good.

Clash Of The Titans: It doesn't get any worse, waste of both time and money while the 3D technology made the movie more shitty that it could smell. If you missed watching it, you did the right choice.
Really? It was the first 3D movie i have ever seen and i was quite impressed by the seer fact of the depth of field.
I ve never felt smth like that in a film before, i felt like i could close my eyes and i could walk to each actors position with my eyes folded.
I dont believe that the film would be watchable in 2D and i believe this is the reason i rated avatar as passable, but it became the best seller ever.

I bet that wasnt your 1st 3D film, wasnt it?

Anyways, i cant wait to watch a football match with that technology, this will change everything, the estimation of depth of field will be critical for sports based on tactics.
Esp for the ones who appreciate this sport, from the tactical POV, rather then fancy dribbles.

Oh and I watched Avatar few weeks ago. It really looked spectacular on BluRay and the movie itself is pretty good. But the links with Pocahontas are really spot on, though personally after 45 minutes in I first thought of Dances With Wolves in space. So the movie offers nothing new in the plot department, full of cliches and predictability. But if you can get past, pretty enjoyable blockbuster flic.

One day I probably will. So many movies to watch, so little time :frown:

At least these horrid b-movies (usually) don't take themselves serious, unlike for example Avatar
Now that's a movie that I'll never watch again.
Yeah, it does, that's why it's good. Avatar is one of those films you MUST watch with an open mind. If you can do that, you'll end up satisfied, like me. It wouldn't make the top 200 on my list, but still it was 2h well spent. :)

But I did watch it with an open mind, that wasn't the problem. In fact, I enjoyed the beginning quite a lot (the scene where he takes control of the Smurf for the first time is awesome), but it all went downhill rather quickly after that.
Plus, a movie that takes itself so seriously should at least try to get the basics right: character development was sketchy at best, dialogues were painfully bad, ...
And, probably unlike most people, I wasn't blown away by the special effects either.
