AHEM Dr Mark Kermode? I didnt realise you can get a PHD in such a ridiculous subject
That would be Dr Kermode, whose PhD is in English, his thesis being on horror fiction. My PhD is in Electronic Engineering, my thesis being on scalar diffraction theory, holography and sampling theory.

A ridiculous subject? Your ignorance here is staggering. The subject covers everything from MRIs ("I know it can find my brain cancer, Doctor, but surely you could have done something useful with your life, like study horror fiction?") to aircraft diagnostics ("I realise that the flight is delayed because the inspection found cracks on the wings, but do you know if there's a bookstore in the airport which stocks good horror fiction?") to yes, selling blue toys and getting Jim Cameron his next Oscar (Okay, maybe the horror fiction is relevent here.). :rolleyes2

You told me that you're phd was in 3D imaging.......a phd is a phd, it is awarded for academic achievement. its like trying to find a difference between a ton of feathers and a ton of bricks. I dont just reference kermode because he has a phd in film. But because he has worked in the industry for over 20 years.

Is there anything else good except that speech?
Difficult question, cause that depends on how you look at it.

It is by no means a masterpiece (objectively speaking), but for me personally, it's a really entertaining film.
The plot is somewhat clichéd, but the acting is quite good. It also tackles quite a few interesting subjects related to big business sports (injuries, upcoming new stars opposing veteran players, financial decisions by the management,...).

Despite it's long runtime (at least 150 min iirc) it never gets boring & time allways flies when I watch it. You should definitely check it out.

after a lot of recommendations i managed to sit and watch "trainspotting" and its simply great!! my fav scene is the one involving mark's parents getting him off his addiction. its nicely portrayed and realistically shows how addicts go thru hell to get back to being barely normal.
