A Mighty Heart & Girl Interrupted are the only 2 movies where she delivered a really good performance imo. Other than that it's mostly overacting or she's just completely miscast to begin with.
She does have other good (or at least decent movies) like The Good Shepherd or Changeling for instance, but she's usually the worst thing about these movies. If that makes sense.

For me it's not, apart from the opening 30-40 min. I pretty much knew what to expect (fx driven movie with recycled plot lines) and was still disappointed.
Maybe my hopes were just a bit too high after reading mostly positive comments & reviews.
After watching the movie last night I read an interesting review though which said: Avatar is just like Twilight, only aimed towards boys instead of girls. There is a lot of truth in that.
