You deserve to be buttl-seksed by Zach for watching the remake. Just saying.

I recommended you that one ages ago, I think. :p

Thanks for the heads up. The one I have is 4 hours long and there's no chance in hell I have the energy for it today. :D

I just watched On The Waterfront and it's great. You can add it on that list Klin.
I'm panicking. Stop giving me movies now!

I've only seen a few. Ringu, Ju-On, Onibabaand Janghwa, Hongryeon...

And then Kim Ki-Duk... But his films aren't really horror.
Once i did a marathon for a week just watching their movies.

Anytime you feel like watching a horror movie you can't go wrong with Asian. They're the creepiest fuckers with the creepiest ideas in the genre. Then comes Hollywood and fucks it up with their remakes. Some off the top of my head:

A Tale of Two Sisters
Audition
Thirst
Shutter
Noroi

I guess all the talk in here got to me, gonna rewatch the original Alien :D

Only saw it once so far, when I was ~10 and it was on TV. Needless to say, it scared me shitless, gonna be interested how I find it now.

Sooo, to be honest I didn't like Alien nearly as much as I thought I would, at least the second half of it. I find it degenerates more into a generic action/horror movie after the famous scene of the Alien's burst through Kane's chest. To be fair, some of that probably has something to do with sequences of other, later movies being in a large part inspired by this movie, but I just lost considerable amounts of interest through the latter part of it.

What I can only agree with however are the, especially for the time, amazing visual effects and set. The alien ship, and the cave underneath are just stunning, and I don't think it would even with modern technology be possible to make the facehugger look more realistic than it does here.

All in all I'm probably with PostIronic on this one, I don't love the film in particular, but it's defenitely among the Sci-Fi greats, and deserving of its place in movie history.
