The author of the books maintains that she had never heard of Battle Royale when she was writing them, who knows though. Regardless, both are good in their own merit.

If you like the Battle Royale film, I'd definitely suggest to read the book & graphic novels.

Stranger Than Fiction: I remember watching this movie from somewhere in the middle on tv, but didn't think it was as good as it was until now, when I saw it completely. Brilliant movie!
