Liam Neeson is one of my favorites. He's really showed that he's a great actor through the years too, picking different and very challenging roles at times.

New Prometheus trailer. Looks unbelievable.
Cannot wait for this one, more so then the new Batman and Hobbit movies.

Just watching Lost in Translation for the first time, good opening scene, Scarlet Johannson :klin:

Neeson is a legend, Michael Collins is my favourite movie of his, partly because Collins is my hero but a lot to do with how awesome Liam plays the big man.

A Separation - I don't get to see many Iranian flicks. It was a good movie, albeit heavy on the personal drama.

And for as much time as they show Persian families in the kitchen, somehow nobody is ever eating. Not sure if that's a movie-making cultural thing or what...
i enjoyed it too although i hated the ending of the movie. it just leaves u with un-answered questions that were being built up through out the movie.

dont know if you and hoori felt the same way about this or not :D
SPOILER]i kind of liked the husband at first , he did start out really well in sticking with his dad. he went down hill the min he lost his head towards the care giver he had hired. yup she was in competent but lets face it she risked her life to make up for her mistake of closing an eye on his dad wandering out but i felt if i was in his place i would've given her that money not as a compensation for accusing her of stealing or what not but for the fact she had risked her life to save his dad. in perfect circumstances i would truly go with what his wife has planned for the future, but i felt she was selfish in trying to get out of iran despite her husband having a father who suffers from one if not the worst disability al zehimers disease.
[/SPOILER]
this was my first iranian movie, and over all i loved it a great deal!

I watched it today as well. I thought the story was cool and the effects/visual style was excellent, but it was a little stale. The lead actress is like a female Nick Cage and the guy playing the antagonist wasn't very good. Not much character development. Still it was enjoyable, but just par compared to Snyder's other films.

That said. Superman should be epic.

I think the lead actress was an excellent choice. Not that I think it was her choice to do it that way, I just felt like the blatant overacting couples with her deadpan moments suited the special effects pretty well. Whenever she had to act in a non-action scene she was deadpan, whilst the flames were shooting she overacted. The antagonist was pure crap though, Colin Farrel from Alexander-esque performance :p .
Remind me, bar Watchmen - which Snyder flick actually has character development?

I'm thinking he'll actually go and create the first good Superman movie ever, I'm looking forward to it..

Dawn of the Dead and Watchmen. That's two of his thee live action films (bar Sucker Punch).

300 didn't really have room for character development. It was a lightning fast action flick. Sucker Punch was slow enough to do it and supposed to be a bit of a thriller. And my impression was the lead actress seemed deadpan all of the time.:D

Would have liked to see John Hamm as the lead asshole.

John Carter - I quite enjoyed it but you can see why it will flop in the box office, you expect more for the source and the money. I'm a fan of the literature anyway, and it's so familiar to anyone who likes sci-fi precisely because it is the source and inspiration for so many.

I think I'll enjoy the series anyway.

I'm not sure I hated the ending. I kind of expected it, even if I don't know of Iranian cinema going for cliffhangers like that. Because for where the movie was, the girl's decision was actually rather inconsequential to the story that was being told and would have brought the movie into an entirely different phase of unanswered questions, etc., etc. -- extending it out at least another hour.

This was also my question. :D

In essence, it was a bit of generational warfare. The family was split on the welfare of the young vs. the welfare of the elderly.

Elite Squad I and II
I liked I and have II waiting to watch soon enough. Heard a lot of great things about II. But you can't knock the direction/production crew.
