Aoron, dont get why people dont like long movies, I miss when movies used to be longer, now basically EVERYTHING is under 2 hours or more less.

I think there have been too many bad long movies or movies where director's had final cut and were not able to cut out as much as they needed.

It's not experiencing everything, I'm quite the opposite type, it's only experiencing things that you like as much as possible.

I'm the same Hoori, not because I'm in a hurry to see everything, but its a waste to re-watch or especially for me re-read stuff when there is allways something new to discover (re-watch movies if nothing else on tv and they are old ones etc). Contrast with my brother who can re-read the same book a dozen times in a year (not kidding).

how does it compare to original?

That's what I'd like to know as well. I'll most likely watch it anyway, but all these remakes made immediately after the original are somewhat a waste of time.

And chances of liking them more than the original are pretty slim for me. Because it's not "fresh", I guess. One of the reasons I haven't watched Let Me In for example. The original was brilliant (definitely one I will watch again some day) & I am curious what they did with it but at the same time I'm quite apprehensive. Even if it seems to be quite well done, based on what I read/heard.
This being said, the original Dragon Tattoo film wasn't exactly that great.


Last ones for me were The Man Who Knew Too Much (in glorious Technicolour! ), which is nowhere near Hitchcock's best but still extremely entertaining and, to counter too much seriousness, Easy A. Which I liked a lot as well.

The original was meant to be a cheap production mainly for TV, it was only made because of the popularity of the books.

I read many reviews on the remake and all said it is a much better movie than the original.

I always thought the original one was a "big" Swedish production aimed at the cinema's, while the 2 others (sequels if you like) were originally made/intended for TV. Thought it kinda showed as well, difference between part 1 and 2-3 was quite big at times.

Fincher is great though, so it's definitely possible that his take is better than the original one.
