saw some of the movies in the list

http://www.primermagazine.com/2010/live/9-kickass-foreign-films-every-guy-should-see

Battle Royale - much better the first time i saw it, although i do think i saw the extended, slightly less disturbing, ending. the declarations of love between grade 8-ers right before they die is what ruins this move for me

the lives of others -great, probably best movie about communism i have ever seen.

persepolis - another great, very good balance of empathy and joy when you watch the movie. i will refrain from the usual socio-economic/religious commentary. spoiler alert, sometime one is unable to fit in either in western and the much more backward (i knew, i did promise, sorry) middle east

the diving bell and the butterfly - i want to live in france, seems like even hospitals are set next to the beach and they have plenty of sexy workers. the movie itself is very very sad and based on a true story. quite inspiring though. great movie

I'm mostly fascinated with how the parts in Iran is being narrated. Great movie.

Luis Bunuel's Un chien andalou or in English An Andalusian Dog The opening scene was one of the sickest thing ive ever seen in a film. Thats all i have to say about it.

Assault on Precinct 13 - The original Carpenter version. Rather flawed, but still very enjoyable.

Southland Tales - Really bad. Difficult to believe that this movie & Donnie Darko were made by the same guy. There may have been some good ideas on the page, but on the screen it's nothing more than a pretentious mess. And the excessive runtime (2hrs, 24 min) makes it seem even worse.

Adventureland - :hellyes:
Really good film. Not a lot of belly laughs, but it really made me smile. Amazing, honest portrayals by everyone involved, great soundtrack as well. At times, the combination of what's on screen & the underlying music is just perfect. My only complaint is the lack of screentime for the brilliant Kristen Wiig & Bill Hader.

This is the best RomCom I have seen in a long, long time. Check it out, V, if you haven't already :D

Damn, I skipped it when it was uploaded on my movie tracker because I didn't fancy the plot and screenshots didn't show one hot babe. I'm downloading now. :D
