So i saw 'Shutter Island'. All in all a good film, M.O.R entertainment, doesn't touch on scorcese's earlier works. One thing that really annoyed was that the whole film was ambiguous, like really ambiguous and the film goes 'oh you know all those theories that you had, well fuck them we are giving the answer, and not a suspected answer, THE ANSWER....fuck the uses and gratifications theory'. Thats something that has always disapointed me about mainstream hollywood, they need to have an answer in the films...fight club, american pysho - the books are really ambiguous and the films just spoon feed you the fucking answer at the end. I prefer stuff by Richard Kelly or David Lynch were if they are going doing the ambiguous road, they fucking stick to it, instead of copping out at the last minute and treating the audiences like morons who cant theorise.

Crazy Heart - One of the best movies of the year. Incredible performance by Bridges and the music is simply awesome.

There's a lot of stuff connected with him, but personally all I've ever listened from him, either produced/written/performed/whatever, was Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Allison Krauss. I love that album. If you have something good, be it blues/country/bluegrass, to recommend, please do.

Woah! Did you just call the Gilmore Girls shit?

Please explain how you can make such a brash statement. You are a student are you not? Lorlei and Rory brighten my day, wake up at 10 stick on the gilmores for more of that cookie entertainment, head over to my lectures with a sick smile and back for Veronica Mars at 5 pm. Perhaps its the difference between television in Jordan and the UK/USA but most blokes i know over here love Gilmore Girls, its like a guilty gay pleasure.
:tup: :D Ze underrated real goodies of the girly/teen series :agree: :D

@V:

There's too many good things and Burnett spans quite a few genres for me to recommend something without knowing your likes.

check his discography out, there's alot of good shit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T_Bone_Burnett#Solo_career

Tooth of Crime and Twenty Twenty (a compilation of his stuff) are worth getting into.

A lot of his earlier music was christen blues and gospel type stuff.

Yeah, I know, I was just browsing his wikipedia page, it's huge. Let me narrow it down for you; my musical taste is vast but I'm into 60's, 70's blues rock mainly. What I'm looking for here is something similar to the Crazy Heart soundtrack, meaning, primarily country with some blues and rock influences.

If you can't pinpoint something specific, I'll check out those compilations. :tup:

Richard Kelly? Donnie Darko's great, but Southland Tales is an awful mess (oh, it has some interesting ideas - about 20 minutes worth - but I'm the biggest fan of it I know or have read the opinion of, and it's a 2/5 for me), and I've heard nothing positive about The Box either.

I was talking about donnie darko, i have been told to avoid his work since then, although kermode liked 'the box' as a B movie homage....

Yes, but as part of my Italian effort I watched the last 4 seasons of it and I realized I had been wrong. It rocks. :D

So consider yourself unteased.
....and my girlfriend thinks its gay for me to like Gilmore Girls....how wrong is she.
